1: You can delete the app.
2: You can, but I would recommend keeping the ROM.
3: Yes, with SetCPU. Just don't over do it. Most ROMs come overclocked. Nonsensikal, I believe, is OC'ed at 710mHz.

Hey guys,

I'm new to having an Eris and new to the forum. I decided to try the One-click root, but when I select Recovery from the Boot menu, I get the 3 guys on skateboards followed by the red-triangle exclamation mark sign. I don't have the phone plugged into the pc or into the AC adapter. Are there any other things that might cause that to come up?

Here's my environment:

used Eris bought from shop on Ebay
running 2.1 (according to Software information)

Thanks. Let me know if there's any other info from Software information that would help. Also, I do see some text scroll down the screen when I initially power up the phone (looks like the msgs are about the SD, but they go by too fast to actually see them).

Pretty sure I did (it happened twice)... I'll go back and check, though...

Maybe I was pressing the Power button down too long when I was selecting Recovery. Anyway, the third time it worked. Now for reading the instructions on installing Nonsensikal... thanks for the help!

Yeah it can be very tricky. You have to hit it just right.

I tried this one click root but when I get to this part...

Step 4: You will see a black screen with green writing(sorry but no time for screenshots today), this is called Android System Recovery, which you will see at the top of the black screen in green.  Using Amon's recovery(Android System Recovery) with the trackball to navigate and select, pick the backup/restore option.  Then select Nand backup with trackball, press trackball to confirm.

I see the screen and the options as shown above but the trackball does nothing. I can't scroll to the options. All I can do is press the trackball to reboot the phone. The trackball works normally  Did I do something wrong?

I know on mine you should be able to use the trackball to scroll down to the different options then press the trackball to click on the one you want.

The trackball won't let me scroll through the options when on that screen. All I can do is press the trackball to reboot. Now every reboot I am getting a low storage alert, but the phone is working. The trackball works fine otherwise

There is a post on our site that shows you how to update recovery and be able to navigate without a trackball.  Use search and the keyword trackball. Im not home or i would link it....

What I ended up doing was going the route of rooting with gscript. I replaced the recovery.img with the newer one that allows you to use keys instead of the trackball. Err I mean buttons. I was able to complete the rooting by re-running the gscript part 1 and 2.

I now see "superuser" in the all apps screen so I presume the root is complete.

I still have the low memory alert on all the time so I want to choose a new rom (Froyo 2.2?) All I am looking for is to make the phone stable, snappy and free up memory like being able to move apps to the SD card instead of having them in internal memory.

Yes find a froyo rom. Also before you install the rom, backup your memory card and do a fresh format of your memory card with no partitions.
