I am on my 4th Droid Eris. Verizon formats my phone, then sends me a new one. Next phone does the same thing. Here is what's happenning....

It can take up to 2 minutes for a call to be placed after tapping a contacts' number. Dialing the number manually has no effect. Happens 75% of the time.

When replying to a sms message or composing, the keyboard pops up but the keys do not type. It looks like they are, but the letters never show up in the type field box. Happens atleast 3 - 4 times a day.

Everything else  works almost perfect. I use Auto Killer app to manually close each process to free up RAM, but as soon as I kill, the apps are back, with more friends slowing my phone down dig time. Advanced Task Killer doesn't work much better. I don't use very many apps that aren't in the top 20 apps used.

I love this phone, just need to fix this major lag issue with texting and simply placing a phone call. HELP ME PLEASE. 4th phone, they all do the same.

From everything that i've read task killers do nothing but bog your phone down, try getting rid of the task killer, go to your settings and turn off all animations,I know that when I had my Eros this greatly improved my performance. If your not rooted, give that a shot as it will help.

Darkside is correct, get rid of task killer, does more harm than good and it does not free up any ram.  Your basically beating a dead horse.  Task killers are useless!!!

1. keep caches clean
2. keep text threads clean
3, keep call history clean
4. do a factory reset

finally, root the phone.

Steven, agree with Ripley.  That's not the source of your problem, but it isn't helping you.  You have an app in there that's gooning you up.  Try a factory reset and then install one app at a time from market (then try to make a few calls) till you find the bad apple...
