my phone is locked on the white screen with the green droid guy on the skateboar

Last night my Droid Eris battery completley drained, and phone went dead. I charged it, this morning the light was green, and every time i have tried to turn the phone on, I get the white screen with the 3 droid guys on the skate boards... And i cannot shut off without taking out the battery. I don't know what to do, other than stop at the verizon store on my way home from work tonight...

Any ideas, is there a manual reset?

OK, thank you for your help, but that didn't do anything for me, still 3 little droids on skateboards... any other things i can try? 

Woke up to the same issue this morning and took battery out, hit down volume and power. Just droids skating on the screen. Had some glitches with my camera yesterday, but, I think my foolishly putting my phone on my laptop overnight may be what killed it.

So, as I suspect I'll need to visit Verizon, what to do?  Will they replace it as I've rooted it?  If they do, do I really want another Eris given the need to root it to make it to my liking?  Or, do I try another Droid?  Or....shudder....do I try an iPhone?
