Facebook Sync " The Service is currently unavailable"

I am having problems with the Facebook HTC sync, it tells me that the service is currently unavailable.

ClickPath

Menu>Settings>Accounts & Sync>Add Account>Facebook for HTC Sense

Error:

Warning - The Service is currently unavailable. Do you want to try again?

 

The normal Facebook for Android app works fine, I can log in etc, other sync options work (Google and twitter)

Steps taken to troubleshoot:

Updated phone to newest software update

Installed updated facebook app


Any idea how to fix this? I've seen many posts about this on the HTC website, but never any answers. I didn't want to have to reset everything on my phone, but nothing seems to be working.  
 

any suggestions? i know it works for others, is it a defective device?

I'm having troubles with mine syncing too, but it isn't showing any error message...it just isn't doing it lol....I am wanting to get all my contacts synced with facebook so their pictures are whatever is their facebook picture. I've tried everything and it is still isn't working so it may be something on their end.

Hopefully they have it fixed soon...it started last night for me and I've been having troubles ever since.

Reading HTC Forums, they are saying it's Facebook. No explanation or anything on what the prob is. That is what is frustrating. Was working fine, then nothing!

Give it a little time im sure they will fix it. I had the phone since launch and this is the first issue with facebook and syncing that I have had..
