I've been using swype v.1.56 in blue/black and black for a while now.  This morning,  both are now expired.  Is there any way to fix without having to find a new version?  I've already tried uninstalling and re-installing both via  Astro file manager.

No way to fix unless you find a new link for 1.56 or if you are a part of swype beta.

There is a link on previous page for swype 1.54 with no expiration.

that's a huge bummer!  i'm not sure i can go back to tapping after swyping.  i would totally pay for the swype keyboard.

If you're on the beta then you have to go to beta.swype.com login and resend the invite email,  this will come with a new swype installer then you uninstall swype and the old swype installer and install the new one.

SlideIT is a good substitute for Swype I hear, I like it. Never used Swype though so i cant verify the comparability.  I've been gone for awhile laptop broke :/  and my eris screen cracked xD miraculously everything still worked.. except a day later it would not pick up any sound touch still worked and it was still usable/viewable.  Replacement phone is carp though it keeps having restarts Sad..i think it has something to do with this Eris replacement not fitting my other cover hmmm... i think there are different Eris's lol

anyways try SlideIT until Swype is available again. im sure you wont be -too- dissappointed

(fyi: demo version only allows 5 additions to dictionary but it has most words so that wont be a problem unless you abbreviate like hell)

Why are you snifflying, when I told you there is a link on the previous page, I think page 9 of this thread, that has a link to swype that has no expiration date.  Stop crying, download and swype.

All right...I stopped crying, downloaded and swyping again...thanks, Ripley.

v1.56 was a little prettier and smoother than the v1.54...but any version of swype is better than tapping again...can't believe how easy it was to get used to swyping that tapping seems sooooooo slow and painful.

John - I'll have to check out the SlideIT to see how it compares...but I think I'm hooked on swype.  Thanks.

Well ss2010  if it makes you feel any better I have the latest swype beta version 2.4.44.10912 from Swype and do not notice one damn bit of difference from version 1.54.

Here's my comparison

swype and SlideIT ate very identical even in its settings.  only two major differences come to mind

1: swype has secondary keys where you can hold a button to use a symbol SlideIT does not ( you have to click the symbol Button and go from there) that's a downside foot SlideIT (another would be that you can only add five new words to the dictionary on there free version)

2: SlideIT shows the word with the highest probability that you want to use and puts it into the text field without you selecting it ( it does give you the option to select alternatives however) swype does not it brings up all possible words without actually placing it on the input field. This too is a problem for me the last word I write gets left out if I dont think to tap the right word. SlideIT usually shows the correct answer so having it auto place the highest probable result has never presented a problem

I've not tested this on swype but SlideIT also has an abc mode you can switch to instantly as well as it allows the input of websites and email addresses once they are saved. For example www.facebook.com cab be typed by "swyping" wfacebokcom no symbols are needed as it places them there automatically. Also such anagrams as btw can instantly turn into by the way (set these in the shortcut menu and when swyping they muddy be green). Lastly you can not store words to be all caps or all lowercase. If it begins the line or comes after a period it gets capitalized and if it its saved with the first letter in caps thats how it will always be. Otherwise its in caps. These are things in SlideIT that I've noticed and am unsure of in swype any corrections are welcomed, no encouraged rather Smiley

SlideIT is also in the market or available through non pay methods if toy search good enough but hey why not pay? its like a few dollar s or so thank you Lol

Hope my comparison helps feel free to clean it up a bit for better comprehension if need be.  thus might become its own thread if others would Like to share their findings
