Good news guys, went to a verizon store because my mom wanted to know when her mortorola droid was going to get froyo. She mentioned to the guy that I had gotten an update and I told her it wasn't froyo but a minor  update and that the eris probably wouldn't get the froyo update. The guy told me and her that both our phones in late august.

Now while I don't know if the guy knew what he was talking about but it at least gives us some hope that we will be getting froyo in the near future. Fingers crossed.

I am almost certain that there has been an official HTC press release stating which devices would be updated, the Eris was not included on that list. The phone is old and almostvoff the shelf so I think 2.1is the end of the line, officially.

Yeah have to agree with Sik, do not think Eris will be getting 2.2 from the big V.

Maybe they are planning on making ports to major releases of Android instead of minor releases like from 2.1 to 2.2. So maybe, and this is wishful thinking really, that Verizon will upgrade the Eris to 2.5 or even 3.0 when it ships later this year or early next year.

I have update my Eris to Froyo 2.2. I rooted 2.1 and then did the update.  However I think I have a Nexus version of Froyo.  Seems to work OK.  Does anyone know what my be the limitations or problems?
I have version 30.  Where could I get the latest version of Froyo for Eris?  Or should I look for Evil Eris?

Any help or comments appreciated.

It sounds like you have kaosfroyo version 30. Check under all things root and rom and look under the rom links for it.
