Too soon?? LOL!

So... Now that the update to 2.1 is rolling out.  Does anyone think that we'll be in the mix to get the 2.2 update?  Which by the way looks AMAZING, and if there was a phone that would be great to hve it, it's us lowly ERIS lovers!

Is it theoretically possible to put Froyo (stock) on the Eris when it arrives from Google? Or is there some hardware limitations from it...

I'm thinking our Eris' are going to be unable to update any further soon..
We MAY be able to get a rooted version of Froyo working if the Devs feel like playing with our little toys still, but after this whole 2.1 fiasco, I get the feeling from a lot of them that they are pretty much done tinkering with it lol..

With Android quickly getting more and more complex, It will, in the near future, require better hardware specs than the Eris has.. Phones like the Nexus ONE and DROID have processors that are twice as capable of running the new OSs than the Eris or Hero..

Luckily, (the way I like to think about it) by the time they get it all working perfectly, and have finally released THE next "IT" phone, most of us Eris owners will probably be eligible for another Discount! haha

You make an excellent point!  Yep the 2.1 fiasco has probably made sure our phones will not be toyed with any longer by the devs.

Good point, but isn't one of the advantages of 2.2 the complier that makes processing much more efficent?  So in that regard you would think that the Eris and other slower processor clocks would be an ideal fit for this.  Especially given the upcoming release of the Wildfire (Am I correct in thinking that this is just an Eris in Nexus One clothing?) which also is without the mighty snapdragon processor...

Just read an article about the wildfire but it did not mention any specs.  Its does look like the Eris in Nexus clothing.

Good news guys, went to a verizon store because my mom wanted to know when her mortorola droid was going to get froyo. She mentioned to the guy that I had gotten an update and I told her it wasn't froyo but a minor  update and that the eris probably wouldn't get the froyo update. The guy told me and her that both our phones in late august.

Now while I don't know if the guy knew what he was talking about but it at least gives us some hope that we will be getting froyo in the near future. Fingers crossed.
