Performed this on my wife's stock Eris and all seemed perfectly fine in terms of not getting any errors and software versions all matching. The only difference from other people's install is the different PRL version (which I've heard is normal).

However all is not well on her phone. the battery life is TERRIBLE now. It sits idle all day and when she gets out of work it is DEAD as in 10-15% battery left all while IDLE!

I was wondering two things:

-anyone else have this experience with terrible battery life (I have rebooted several times and reseated the SD card multiple times as well

-If needed how do I return back to stock factory rom and settings?

-Yagermeister

Once updated you cannot return back to 1.5.  There are too many variables without know what all is on the phone to narrow it down.  Go into settings> applications>running services, tap it and you will see what is running, using the battery.  Sounds like something is hung up or she has downloaded a widget or app that runs all the time, thus draining the battery.

We are at a point where we do not care about any files, contacts, apps, anything. She only has 1 app Shazam installed besides all other stock apps. All else is synced with Google.

Only two "apps" are taking up 40% EACH: cellphone idle and cellphone standby (the names are something very close to that...)

For my Motorola Droid I can use RSD Lite to flash back to stock quite easily. Is there no similar process for the Eris from HTC?

What you mention is not under running services.  Did you go there as I posted?  You can do a factory reset, which I have never done and will not do, but some say it has helped.

I have her phone in my hand and checked the running services...google talk/calendar sync and that is all. I went ahead and did a Factory Data Reset, gone thru activation (*228 1 and then let it reboot and did *228 2) both successful. I am now charging the phone. Once complete I will turn it off, take the battery out, put it back in, and reboot and see how things go. Wish things were easy like my Motorola Droid  Wink

Yeah that calendar sync should not be in running services, which you can tap and stop.  Let us know how the factory reset goes.

Did the manual install over 1.5 and all was great for a few days. Now it doesn't ring when I get calls. Checked all the usual places to make sure settings are right. Any ideas?

There is a problem in 2.1 leak and OTA with silent phone call issue.  Try rebooting and it should fix.

Not sure when this happened, seems Verizon has changed the PDF about the OTA update.

Pinch to zoom and voice to text have been deleted.

They changed it on the 19th at 10:03 am. If you ever need to see some details of a pdf online, just right click and hit page properties...

I knew they would change it eventually..

My wife's phone has been working fine now that I:

1. charged her phone til 100% then I pulled the battery
2. dialed *228 and then 1
3. dialed *228 and then 2
4. performed a Factory Reset from the Settings panel
