For those who don't want to wait for the newest update, you can manually update here. Do a backup of your items as a precaution but the update should not erase anything, its just a patch...

Update includes Silent call Bug Fix

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZHNS1RUM

If you’re running a custom ROM or are on a rooted device, you’ll have to wait for your respective developers to integrate this update into their modifications (unless you want to flash to stock and then update).

1. Download the file above and rename it update.zip
2. Place this file on your SD card (DO NOT place the zip file in any folder on the card) then shut off your phone
3. Hold down Volume Down and Power to enter the bootloader
4. Select Recovery and press the power button
5. The phone should reboot and give you a screen with an exclamation point
6. Hold down Volume Up and press the power button (this is in contrast to the old one where you held the home button and pressed the power button... I guess this is new from the 1.5 to 2.1 update)
7. Select Apply sdcard:update.zip
8. Wait about 10 minutes for it to finish its thing, it should verify and patch system files, lots of yellow text...

Yes, that may work or you can press call(send) and power buttons at same time...

The problem is that the v3 version of the leak resolves a lot of the bugs v2 had. No telling if this patch will cause an issue with v2. The safe bet is to update to v3, then apply the patch. You'll have to re-install all your app's though, but your phone will love you for it.

Meanwhile, everyone should be getting the patch through the air-waves now according to Engadget: http://phandroid.com/2010/07/19/droid-eris-ota-update-should-be-out-for-everyone-now/

So, I did that but it just comes up with a Red triangle with an exclamation point and hangs there....I have 2.1 leaked V3, does that matter?

When you get the red exclamation point, hold the volume up button and power button. That will take you to the next screen. I think I had to press it twice to get it to work.

Ok, so I just changed the name to update.zip (forgot about that!)
It does the following in yellow:
Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to open /sdcard/update.zip(no such file or directory)
E: signature verification failed.

Wierd, I know it's there and on the root of my sdcard....and it is named update.zip...

Any thoughts?

nevermind....I download the file again and saved it as update.zip during the download so it was copied to my sdcard as a zip file called "update"
for some reason before it was on there as update.zip and it didnt seem to like that.

it's going now...sorry for the brain fart ! Smiley

Hey, can someone please link me to the original 2.1 v3 leak update download? I've tried searching it here and can't seem to find it. Thank you.

well, I didn't get there and ended up reloading v3 and erased everything, DAMN! Oh well, needed to do some cleaning anyway, have most everything loaded back up. I still am unclear of how to get to "recovery"?
