Droid Life did it again, they got the insider info...

According to Verizon, Droid Eris users should expect to see an OTA update starting Friday July 16th.  This update is not to Android 2.2, but does feature a bundle of OS enhancements.

Here are the details…

You haven’t been forgotten about just yet Eris users!  Nice to see Verizon and HTC still supporting one of the original Droid family members.

Biggest thanks to Droid-Life for this breaking news

Yep, same one that is posted here: http://www.droid-eris.com/htc-droid-eris-updates-and-cupcakes/minor-eris-update-being-pushed-out-today-confirmed/

VZW started the roll out in late June but there were some problems and they delayed it. Lets hope that this fixes some issues for a few people.

This is the worst, most buggy phone I have ever had.  the processor is always working when I need to answer a call and I have it reboot as much as 3 times a day.  I tried to cancel the plan and pay the fine, but they told me I would lose my number.  At this point the phone is really affecting my ability to communicate.

How about a replacement? That is definitely not normal and they should replace it.

How much of an overclock did you achieve with yours? Granted, I can't overclock since I didn't go the root-path... here's hoping a root of the Eris 2.1 comes!

I totally agree with Sikyou. I would pressure them to replace the phone.

Did you JUST start the plan?  Legally, they cannot take your phone number from you.  The moment it's assigned to you, it's yours until you ditch it.

Don't know really if that post was from someone legit. Notice no other entry... or one supporting his complaint. Love my Eris and got that update... somethings were a bit off but I found a way to work through it, deal with it and move on. Just like life people... nothing is perfect. The more you complaint the worse it get for you. Maybe he/she just doesn't belong in the Droid family. Operator Failure... My apologizes if I offended anyone. I'm so tired of those that complain... It was good of you guys to try to help.... Tell me if I'm wrong... if i'm off base. May be it was just me needing to complain about people who complain... Embarrassed

Just another though... The only bad thing I have heard about Eris is the response time... it lags but again from someone who needs instant gratification. The other though I had was (and my be just a reminder) that anyone can post in a forum. The possibility that this came from a competitor making an attempt to deter people from buying Eris. Has anyone really had that much trouble? I don't know. I love my phone even with it's faults and there isn't much to really say. Again I could be wrong...

There is nothing wrong with someone needing to vent about a phone that may not be working correctly.  His attack was on his phone and I do understand how he feels.  I came from a storm 2, which was the worse phone I have ever owned and could only deal with for 6 months before jumping on the Eris.  Yes my Eris, does at times, p*ss me off and its only because of the silent call bug, especially during a business call, which has nothing to do with operator failure.

Sometimes a person just needs to vent when they have had enough and this forum is here to hopefully help them find some sort of resolution which may help their frustration level.

This update may or may not interfere with your ability to root. If you want root I would avoid this. Root is available now and the update will be incorporated in to custom roms soon.

Thanks Ripley for your candor. I know the importance of venting and I do encourage it. I was only trying to open up the idea that the poster might be a poser trying to discourage others from buying Eris. The only reason I brought the validity of this persons post into question was 1. Isn't the processor supposed to be working even if you answer the phone? (I don't know, what I do know is I can do some multi tasking while talking on the phone) 2. having to reboot 3 times a day? 3. Why only one post from this person? There were a few responses to help but nothing came back...  I would have gladly left it alone to the experts. Beside there is a difference between complaining and venting. People who complain often do so just to say something bad about something or other and don't care about what others say. On the other hand people who vent clearly see that they are venting and are often grateful to have someone listening, they appreciate feed back and would like to find a resolution.

Let me make something clear because perhaps you might have taken the "Operator Failure" comment personally. Let me direct that comment to myself because it is very really in my world of "touch screens". It's too easy to make mistakes. How I remedy my relationship with Eris is to recalibrate once a month.

I didn't mean for this to go this way... Next time I'll keep to myself but thanks Eris Fam for the updates... You Rock!!

Seajay, I appreciate your opinions and welcome them.  Trust me any posers are and will be dealt with accordingly on the forum.

Now the big question are you going to root?
