INSTALL:

1) Load EvilErisv1.1.zip to the root of your sdcard.
2) Make sure your phone is off, and Hold Power + VOLUME UP
3) Press "wipe" and press "wipe/factory reset" after that, press VOLUME DOWN
4) Press Load .zip from sdcard
5) Select EvilErisv1.1.zip
6) Allow it to install by confirming (Press Trackball)
7) After Installation, allow up to 7 minutes for boot


is what they say i couldnt get passed step two with them lol

I: Gaining root
An unlocked hboot will allows us to flash in a modified IMG ROM signed with test keys as supposed to requiring an official ROM from HTC. This will open us to be able to flash a modified recovery.

1. Download this file: PB00IMG.zip (md5: 63eacc5ede3b179f95dc22d8ef585f94)

2. Place PB00IMG.zip onto the root directory of your sdcard.

3. Power down your phone.

4. Hold Volume Down while you Power On. This should bring you to a screen saying "HBOOT" and some other stuff. Wait for it to load the image, and it will say Push Activate. Push the trackball button to continue. The process will take around 5-10 minutes. The first time your phone boots up it will take a lot longer than normal.
  found this so I'll wait for an image to load idk if I should click on HBOOT my nstinct says do it my heard says no your phone will break and the voices say "yesssss" <-- and i didnt even like the Lord of the Rings (mainly because i didnt watch it Cheesy)   well... here goes nothing

well HBOOT was unclickable lmao anyways i found this which may be of interest to people I of course havent tried it since i cant update lol but thy have found a way to go from 2.1 root to 1.5 says it doesn work for leak though, sorry guys

Success Smiley the onlyw ay ill be upset is if Gmail tries it screw me over with my contacts lol

going to change it from the name it has to update.zip i THINK that has to be done for it to load custom roms.. if not i will tell you and we wont know HOW TO but at least we'll know HOW NOT TO Wink anyways rooted succesfully trying to get EvilEris to be present

EDIT : I've never been the on who couldn't figure this stuff out Sad on tip to you all whn yu power on holding VOL+  when yu gt thr !triangl prss VOL+ and POWR button once more for a menu Smiley

seeing as I've tried everything i will once again try holding it down...

as of currently Evil Eris is not workng

Ok Johnn, you're making me very jealous here! Should be another week or 2 until I have root and start building some ROMs of my own. I have been keeping my eye on the sense-able ROM posted over at XDA, will probably be my first flash  Grin

This was a waste on me lol. i tried a custom ROM and could'nt get it to work, but I'm pretty satisfied with how it is, but the other one seems like it may move even faster, btw my lag problems are gone Smiley

So you're just running the rooted OTA? When I get root we can work together on getting a custom booted if you'd like. For now I only know what I read but once I get my hands on it I'll be able to help.

Yeah, I KNEW you could go backwards from my constant Eris researching on various forums... I just didn't say anything about it.  Smiley

I have two phones coming in sometime today, they are at the FedEx depot supposedly right now about 45 miles away.. VERY tempting to go get them so I can start setting them up. I am considering using mine for things like EvilEris and leaving wife's waiting for 2.1 OTA. Least I'll get to hands-on compare/test the 2.

umm i thought maybe it was just the hardset or just peopl wanting the 2.1 to be better but i can guarantee you that you phone will survive alot longer. it  took me 8 and a half hours (granted i was at school with most data off and brightness very low) i texted plenty not nearly as much as if i was free but with 1.5 ive done the same and my battery was in the orange usually by the time i arrived home. Its

no i dont go to school for 8 hours but i took it off charge at 7:13 and it is now 3:44

i now know how everyone who was able to get the 1.5 battery to last felt but ill order a new battery to condition so i can get the days that everyone else gets Cheesy

and yes i wanted to run the Eris-Based Evil Eris Rom but just could not get it to run, the only option I haven't tried is unZiping it... and idt having it so out of market apps could be downloaded would affect this... i even changed the name to update.zip and have an original..  Just wish i could have given more insight sorry guys. but i like this root, so far i havent had any problems except... a slight slowdown in my previously accelerated speed (this happened right after i used Mixzing lite to listen music

as far as my battery drainer its 50% + my cell standby  (it has the signal icon so im guessin its power used obtaining a signal) as of currently it is 55% and i was under 2 bars most of the day, had none at times. could still send and recieve texts though Smiley

Lastly I want to apologize for any typos, as i have a little brother and sister who took off a few keys of the keyboard  Smiley

A bit of caution ta ROOTers (possibly all updaters)  when you're on a call and use your phone it often goes into lock mode no matter if ts set to 1 minute, 2 minutes or 10 (mine is set to 10 and it happens like every 15-30 seconds even when I'm replying to a text ) any fix is welcome, otherwise just a warning

OK,
its time for me to step in. The problem you're having is that you haven't installed a custom recovery yet. Without that, you can even install any custom roms.
Use this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=647974&highlight=recovery
After that using Power + VOL Up should put in a custom recovery and you'll finally be able to install.
