Morning all.
I have been monitoring my battery life since it seems weird to have the barrtey drop so quickly right after charging overnight.

I noticed my Cell Standby was at 67% right after taking it off the charger when I awoke.
I followed a tip by Monty to reduce this number and it did drop to 47%.
1 1/2 hours after the full charge, I am at 72% battery remaining and all I did was check weather once (that now never catches up to the real conditions) and I checked one email.
    Is 47% Cell Standby High?

I also noticed the although the phone is 1 1/2 hours off the charger, my uptime is 1:43 and me Awake time is 0:40.
The phone was put to sleep at lease 1:20 at least I figure.
I am going to watch these levels through out the day since yesterday my uptime was about 15 hours and my awake time was 12 hours and I was at work all day with it off. hmmmmm.
What would run to keep the awake time up so long, not having a signal?
                (No signal inside my workplace)

I cut back many of the services and even dropped some mail accounts that I rarely use to reduce and time syncing.   Anyone have thoughts on this?

Yesterday I read an article on Android Central, which he got from somewhere else, I can't remember.  But, it was basically an article about one of the Google execs saying that poor battery life can be attributed to poor app programming.
I would suggest you go through your apps, with a fine tooth comb making sure nothing is running when you don't intend it ti, clear cache of your Manage Apps section.
turn off data connections when not needed (wifi, gps,), I never turn off my mobile connection.

My battery gives me at least a day every day.  I couldn't tell you though exactly what to attribute that to.

Best wishes.

Thanks Karma,
I actually have almost no apps since after the update I was dropped to only 42mb of available space on my phone memory.   After removing some apps and clearing cache' (Yesterday) I got to 67mb available.  I had 83 before the update and no app changes afterwards.

My phone battery is almost dead after this mornings post with only 1 phone call made, checked the weather twice, and 2 minutes of looking at an email account.
My battery is about 20 percent now after an uptime of 12:04 hours, an awake time of 2:11 hours (the phone was in sleep 95 percent of the day with no wireless connection and wifi and gps off)  and my Cell Standby usage is back up to 62 percent.
(Could this be showing what percentage of the battery loss was from standby and not
what I'm taking as a present 62% draining of the battery?)

Normally with my Wifi on, GPS on and some moderate usage all day with the 1.5 version I have until I went to bed before I even got close to 20 percent.

I stopped into the Verizon store here and they checked with the verizon rep forum and there were similar post there about the same issue.

I wouldn't mind if the above usage was from playing a game and checking facebook off and on over the day but to not use the phone at all definitely vacuums.  I should be able to use my phone for a somewhat reasonable amount of time and have a few apps on the phone or it becomes useless.   I'm going to try a reset tonight and see what happens.

Are you running the new battery widget?  Have you checked running services?

Hi Ripley,  I can't find and thing in a widget or app for a battery except something titled Power Control that shows my the WiFi, GPS, and things running.  Is that the one you mean?

I've been studying battery usage ever since I bought my 1750 "extended" battery a couple of months ago. In that time I have seen all manner of erratic behavior that makes no obvious sense.

- Sometimes after 6 hour charge it has a green light at 97%.
- It almost always burns through the first 10% in the 1st 45 minutes of operation. After that it seems to slow down to a steady usage rate.

I run this phone pretty hard (over sixty apps installed). Average 1.5 hours of calls, 10-20 txt messages, 100-150 e-mails on 2 accounts and 1 to 1.5 hours of MP3s daily.

Most days after 14 hours of I am at 30-40% remaining. But occasionally it is much different. A few times as low as 15% and once as high as 68% for no apparent reason.

One app I stopped using is Lock 2.0 as it had a noticable battery impact. I also only use Bluetooth as needed as it showed obvious battery drain.

I'm inclined to agreed with Chewy but I'll be darned if I can make any connections between which apps are the culprits.

Not a big fan of that power control thing because of battery.  Is it on her home screen?

Ok go to settings>applications>running services, see whats running there.

WoHooooo!

I broke down and did the factory reset.
Installed all the apps I had previously including ones I removed to get back to 67mb from the 42 I was at.

Now after the reset, all contacts are sync'd back including facebook.
I have 106mb avail for apps and whatever.
My cell standby is at 13% (probably due to me installing all the apps and it hasn't had time to think) and no lag in any screen or app so far.  Tried all I reinstalled.

Only thing I lost was my checkbook data which I did back up daily and theres nothing there.

Hopefully this gets my battery life back to reasonable and I''m stoked to have my available phone memory back up.

Monty,
Yeah, I'll have to watch cache on the apps I figure.
Tomorrow will be another day like today so I'll see what happens to battery life compared to today.

Quick note on this:  I opened and synced Facebook and went from 106mb available on phone to 99.9 available.  Since I don't use face book much I stopped all sync options and signed out of my account.  I cleared the data and back to 103mb.

Riley:  I checked the running services and notice the GTalk service is running.  Not sure if i need that but I found it restarts is I shut off and restart phone.
Only Y5, and OBexservice, alarm, and Touch Input are running now.

OK, now I'm back to 106 available on phone memory only a few minutes after I posted the last post so I'm guessing Facebook contacts cleared out (only 1700 of them).  Gotta stop playing those FB games :-)

i am curious just how big an issue the cell standby % is.  i am on leak 3 and my  cell standby is 65%,  but after a full night's charge   i unplug my phone around 6am and now at almost 9pm i still have around 60% battery left.  i am not on my phone all day but i do a good bit of surfing and email checking throughout the day.  is cell standby % a big deal?
it doesn't seem to affect me all that much,  i've just seen a lot of people talking about it.  appreciate any feedback

I wonder if this is only showing how much of the battery was used over the day by the standby mode in comparison to the other stats shown.  IE: If you used the phone and ran the battery down the cell standby would be a low percentage and if you left the phone in sleep then the number would rise.

One suggestion i have, although controversial, Task killers  Undecided lol I use mine A LOT, i txt, about 200-300 a day, couple calls, surffing, app-ing lol and am messing with LauncherPro Beta, killing all apps before locking my device. And after having it off the charger for about 15 hrs, i'm at 50%.

If nothing else, maybe try a task killer. I would keep it to kill after a reboot. Cause then all your stuff is running.
And my cell stand by is 65ish, it doesn't effect battery, for me, at all.

Just my 2 cents.
