 Shocked

Guys....if you go over to the xda forum.....you'll notice that the Kaos Froyo is almost the biggest thread out there..(400 pages)..

Right now its almost as good as vanilla roms (w/o htc sense) ..

the only problems with it are :
1. camera app (preview of picture doesn't work..but you can still take a picture) theres an app called Magic camera on the market which works for taking pictures as a work around...
2. camcorder doesnt work
3. wired thetering doesn't work....

so yeah... I see no point in waiting for verizon to "ship" you an OTA froyo. NOT going to happen.

Eris is old news for verizon..they don't give a shat for it anymore.....

so you might as well try this out..http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=685594

Thanks for sharing the Froyo info.  I do appreciate it, as this cat is not about to claw thru 400 pages.

I am not sure which link to download from the xda-developers website.  There were 27 different versions.  Please give me a hint.  All three of my Eris' have sucked horribly after the initial 2.1 update.  1.5 was wonderful and worked like a smart phone should.  some of the changes in the 2.1 were pretty good, but the whole phone experience completely went in the toilet.  I am willing to try anything to get it to work better but I don't want to trade one set of problems for another.  I am not a developer or phone wiz so I need something that will work without me having to contribute anymore than what I already know about what i am able to do with the phone.

Would the upgrade be worth it for someone like me and if it doesn't work, can I wipe it back to the version I am running now? (most recent OTA update.)

Most devos number their Roms, so the highest number you see for a rom is the latest, as with kaosfroyo you will see v27, that is the latest one and the one you would want to flash on your phone.

Once you root with Kaosfroyo, you can go back to the crappy 2.1, if you do not like froyo.  You need to read the tutorial threads here, as they explain everything you may want to do.

Honestly this is a hard one for me to answer.  I have tried all the popular froyo roms.  I have found that the most stable for me now is Siks nonsensikal, runs smooth, fast and no problems.  Others on here may be able to provide you with a better explanation.
