2.1 V3 downloading help

I went to the link jrocker23 posted up and when I downloaded the zip file to my computer I tried opening it and said something like corrupted file. I currently have a leaked 2.1 but not version 3, I really dont know which version I have to be honest. Is there something I am doing wrong for the file not to open? Can I go to verizon and have them update my phone there? What about if I bought a new phone from verizon would it come updated already??

You should not open the file.  Instead follow the instructions at http://www.droid-eris.com/htc-droid-eris-reviews-and-video/all-help-videos-in-one-place/.  It will work with any earlier version - 1.5 2.1 V1-V3. Enjoy and dont' forget to back up your contacts and apps!
