I have 4 phones on my family share plan, 2 moto droid, one Eris, and one run of the mill phone. I have the primary number on my Moto Droid. The family share member with the Eris updated her phone with the software update this morning and to Our suprise a couple really bad things happened.

1st: All of her contacts were deleted.
2nd: And the Reason for me writting, is that "My" gmail  account configuration was added to her phone. Yes, Thats right! We were eating breakfast when she did the update, and she said wow...I have 212 Emails? Well, they were not hers, but mine.  We went down to Verizon after breakfast and they ended up having to reset her phone to factory defaults. Once the phone was tied to my email address, there was nothing that could be done other then that I guess.  It still had her email listed as a secondary address, but failed each time it would try to sync. My Email, and thus her access to my email could not be removed from the phone without resetting it. This was not a big deal for us, other then her loosing all her phone contacts and having to re-enter them, but the privacy issue could be a HUGE deal for some. Thought it worth sharing. I am not certain, but I believe the problem may be rooted to the fact that her primary gmail address that the phone was linked to was not an @gmail.com address. The phone is configured to a gmail address through google apps where for business reasons we linked it to a a separate domain. So rather then being jane.doe@gmail.com it is jane.doe@herbusines.com but all managed through google. But that is just a guess of course.

I have the same plan and no issues with us. to get rid of the email. go into her phone and delete the google account completely, menu/settings/accounts and sync. now have her restart the phone and only put her email in.

you can also do the same for your phone and put your email just to be safe.

Her contacts were most likely lost because she save them as phone contacts not google contacts. When you setup a contact it will give you an option of phone or google contact...

We had our phones done over the air and by hand..never had any issue like this... also check gmail under her account on the pc and make sure she doesnt have your email listed as hers. It shouldn't be but just check.

Thanks for the reply. We tried to get rid of the email via the delete route at first, but on actually trying to do so, it states that you can not without reseting the phone. I don't recall the exact message, but it wouldn't let you continue after you actually hit delete. The store stated the same when we took it in, if there was or is another way around it, I can not say.

For the contacts, Yes I suspect you are correct. Verizon offered to import the contracts from a different phone if we had one available, but we were not lucky enough to have one handy.

That's a weird one lol..
my GF and I both have Eris'
I updated mine to the 2.1 leak v3, and she waited for the update, Got it yesterday and updated with no issues..

Not sure why, but she didn't want to go the google contact route when she got it, and stored all of her contacts on the Phone memory.. Even after the update, everything was still there, apps, contacts, sms, mms, everything!

She only had to re-decorate lol.. Wallpaper and Home Screen scenes were not saved.. She had to change a couple of settings, as far as which contacts/calenders/information was displayed in certain apps, but it was pretty painless..

Sorry to hear you ran into these issues! But i'm glad you guys got it all figured out! Smiley
