I've had my Eris for a while now, and it's a good phone and all, but now I'm thinking of upgrading to an Incredible.

Now that the Thunderbolt is out the Incredible prices will plummet. So I should be able to get an Incredible (used and without contract) for $150 to $200.

Is it worth it? Is there another phone that will work with Page Plus Cellular (a Verizon sub-network) that I should look at? EVO? Incredible S?

Decisions, decisions, decisions...

If your looking to spend that much, you should just get a thunderbolt and you can lock in the 4g unlimited plan before verizon does away with it...

Are you due for an upgrade?

I'm not on a contract, and I like to keep it that way. I don't mind the higher up front cost (buying the phone retail), and the benefit is a very low monthly cost for me on a pay-as-you-go plan. Also it gives me the flexibility to change phones as I please, rather than waiting until the phone company tells me I can.

I have a separate work phone with unlimited data, so I hardly ever use data on the Eris (only WiFi when I want to mess around).

Plus the Thunderbolts are very expensive right now (without a contract).

I too am thinking of a different phone. Im still on contract till next January but not sure Im gonna stay with Verison when its up.My Eris is a good phone, rooted and running 16.1 I could never get gingerbread to run smooth on it and 16.1 is a great rom. Im thinking about the Inc also but am looking at the X and Fasinate also. Im not that wrapped up about changing roms all the time but I would still be interested in rooting cause I do like some of the benefites and extra apps. Thanks Ned

I just went to the Verizon site so I can compare phones and the Inc is nolonger listed. I refreshed my page and selected android devices only but still didnt show. Glitch on website?

Those are good phones you mentioned but Just remember, they will be hitting the end of their line soon and with all the new phones out and coming out, support (official and dev) will start to slow down.

As i stated above. If u like unlimited data, you may want to lock it in now before tiered pricing....

Just my 2 cents

Just another quick question before I decide. Way back when I was with cellular one(now AT&T) they were cdma and were swithching over to gsm  everyone was basicly forced to buy new phones. Do you think Verison will eventially  force people to upgrade to 4g? whether by only offering 4g service or by not selling 3g phones.
Also how much longer will they be offering unlimited 4g

No VZW wont because it will be a long time before all areas get LTE (4G). It will be a long while.

I agree with Frrr. I dont see them knocking out 3G anytime soon and that will most likely stay unlimited and not force u to upgrade.

I have seen a statement from verizon ceo at a mobile conference last month stating they are looking at mid summer for tiered plans for 4G. So to get 4G unlimited, you would have to sign up before then...

I talked wth Verizon,my wife's line can be upgraded. He told me since Im a long time customer he will upgrade my other lines early too if I want the thunderbolt.I guess Ill be the proud new owner of a thunderbolt now. I currently have an unlimited plan with that promotional discount of $20 per line for data and he said the thunderbolt wont change anything i will just get 3g in 3g areas and 4g in 4g areas. He told me 4g plans were for laptops and tablets.I was skeptical and went to the Verizon store and the gal pretty much said the same. He will be calling me back at 3pm central time to see what I want to do. So does this all sound right? Thanks

Your welcome FRRRRRRRRR...

Yes ned as Frrr said. Thats it. It is actually carrying over your 3g plan but everyone calls it 4g unlimited once they are switched over. All the same...

All the best on your decision
