OK, my boss is switching carriers from AT&T to Verizon. So we (my IT department) are all getting new phones. We currently have iPhone 3G. We don't use any apps that are dependent on the iPhone platform - except the Cisco VPN client.

Since there is some disconnect between Google/Android/Cisco and they won't make a VPN client that works with Cisco ASA boxes for droid phones, I'm kinda stuck.

However, there is another wrinkle... I also have an iPad. The iPad doesn't have a data plan. But our new phones will have unlimited data and tethering. So I could get a droid phone, set it up as a wifi hotspot and then use my iPad to VPN into my network and do work.

But... that kinda defeats the purpose of having a smart phone (so I don't have to carry the ipad everywhere I go)...

Hmmm... so, which do I chose: iPhone4, Thunderbolt, Incredible 2, Moto Droid 2, Moto Droid X, Samsung Droid Charge, Samsung Fascinate, or what?!?

Too many choices.  Huh?

Tom I think Frrrr means inc 2.

I upgrade in about a month and not too happy with Verizons choices right now.  Hopefully they will have something new soon.

@JRocker: Yeah, I'm leaning towards the iPhone4. There's only two negatives about it: it's only 3G not 4G LTE, and the android phones are much more hackable. The big pluses are that the iPhone will do the Cisco VPN and wifi hotspot right out of the box. But... I want the 4G speed when it comes to my area, and I know I won't get another phone for about 3 years.  :Smiley

@Frrrr: Ah! Incredible 2... Any particular reason why as opposed to the others Frr?

@Ripley: Thanks for translating.  Wink

Anyone know anything about this new phone the HTC Imagio? This is the first I've heard of it (on the Verizon list I can pick from).

@JRocker: how's the battery life on your T-Bolt? I've heard complaints about it being the Achilles' heel of a great phone.

To be honest, with a little tweaking with it stock, you can push about 8 hours on moderate usage. If you root, you can push it to 15 hours with moderate.

Im running rooted stock now with just the newest update that will be out soon from Verizon (got the update early) not real battery saving things set up and I can do about 9 hours stock battery and 11 with the 1700mah battery.

Also remember that when people first get the phone, they are playing with it constantly and at the same time the battery hasnt really settled in so usage will be lower. Once that wears off, you can do ok..

Thanks JR!

I told my boss that I'd take a Thunderbolt. He's checking on how much the tethering costs on it. If it's the same as tethering costs on the iPhone4, I'm in. If not, it's an iPhone4 for me.

Thanks for all the input guys.
