Howdy! 
I just saw where Big Red is now offering Certified Pre-Owned HTC Thunderbolts for $199.99.  Anyone have any experience with purchasing a CPO device.  Risky, or a good deal?
I'm due for an upgrade.  I have enjoyed the Eris, but I think it's time...

I haven't bought a new phone in years. I'm all about buying used phones. Though, I wouldn't buy it sight-unseen. Is it an online purchase, or do you go into the store and check it out first?

Is it an ebay auction kinda at thing where you at least get a photo of the specific phone you're getting? Or is it "I'll take one of those" and they send you one from their lot with no guarantees?

If they have guarantees and a warranty, I would go for it. Check the company's rep first though. Google for some problems with them and see what you find.

They come with the same warranty and guarantee as the new ones.  They come directly from Verizon on the VZW website.  I went ahead and ordered one.  It will be here tomorrow.  I'll post the results.

So, the phone arrived today and has been great, so long as it's on the charger.  If I remove it from the charger, the phone will not wake up after the screen is turned off.  The only solution is to pull the battery and then reboot.  Every time. 
I called VZW tech support.  They moved me to a level 2 technician.  He advised me to do a complete system restore thinking it may have been an app I downloaded causing the problem.  This did not fix it.  I keep getting the same problem. 
I am receiving another CPO TB on Thursday.  We shall see. 

I've also seen this screen twice during a reboot.

I received my replacement TB last Thursday.  After getting a new SIM card, its been great.  I cannot tell in any way that its a refurb.  I took a 12 hour trip this weekend and used Pandora, navigation, and various other apps simultaneously with no trouble.  It kind of freaked me out that the phone could handle all of that since I've been accustomed to our beloved Eris.
Now...to root, or not to root?
