OK, I've searched high and low, and even asked in a few Android Tablet forums. But I got nuthin. So I'll ask the android gurus here - even though it has nothing really to do with the Droid Eris... Tongue

Does anyone know of a cheap (under $250) tablet that has:
- 7" capacitive screen (not resistive)
- WiFi ( b/g or g/n)
- Built-in GPS (not a US dongle nor Bluetooth GPS)
- Has a modding community (like this one!) and is capable of running Honeycomb

Does anyone know of such an animal? I've found a couple that meet my specs - except for the GPS! But I can't find on with GPS for my price range.  Sad

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?

Most Android tabs will run Honeycomb, the only one I know of off hand is the Galaxy Tab: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab/GT-P1010CWAXAR

Its $350 though and I've used it and never found it nice.

I'll look around more for you.

The tabs I would get if I could would be an HTC Flyer, the Xoom or one of the new Samsung tabs.

Thanks JPC. With a new Samsung tablet coming out soon, the prices on the WiFi Galaxy Tabs should be dropping. If I can score one for about $250, I probably will.

There's all kinds of no-name tabs in the low price ranges, but finding one with capacitive screen and GPS is tough.

I'm checking ebay now. I've got a snipe setup for one tonight for about $200. It's a Sprint return, so it's used, but guaranteed working and no scratches, so it sounds worth it. The average Buy It Now price on them seems to be $275 and up. So we'll see...  Wink

Ugh. I keep getting outbid. It seems that there's a lot of people willing to pay a lot more for those tabs. I watched about 7 of them go over the weekend, and most went very close to $300. The lowest was $240.

I guess I'm just too cheap! LOL

Actually, part of the problem is that they're all WiFi & 3G. And I don't care about the 3G part, but for a lot of people that adds significant value.

The WiFi only ones don't seem to be popping up on ebay yet. Maybe they're too new.  Sad

Well, perseverance paid off. I finally scored a nice tablet from ebay. I didn't get a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7, I ended up with a Dell Streak 7. I _really_ hope I won't miss the 1024x600 resolution of the Galaxy. But for the money, the Streak fit in my budget perfect, and has better stats than the Galaxy - except screen resolution.

Also, there's already a beta release of honeycomb for it. (sweet!)

Now all I have to do is find a car mount for it that won't break the bank.

(P.S. Sorry to the poor b@stard that I outbid by $2.50 on ebay and won it for $230!  Grin )

Congrats! The Galaxy Tab never seemed like a great tablet to me; I think you made a good choice and got a great deal!

Shame I can't find a good forum (like this one) for the Streak 7. So... I guess you guys are all gonna have to go out and buy Streak 7's and then we can invade the Streak forum!  Tongue
