 Cry
i have had my eris from Verizon for about 18 months now, and i am not happy.  I cannot get out of the contract until December-ish, nor can I afford to.  Anytime that one of the (few) applications I have downloaded needs an update, i get the 'Phone storage is getting low' warning.  I DO NOT LIKE THIS.  It has stopped incoming and outgoing texts and calls and I would like to know how to fix this.  I am generally ok with the phone until this happens...Please help!

Are you rooted yet? If so, give GSB a try. I love it. Plus, get a big SD card either way. Then just move all your apps to it.

Unfortunately I did try the 'one touch root'  It took 5 hours to get it done, and since the language was not my own (LOL), Somewhere along the line I ended up with a Sprint OS on a Verizon phone.  At that point I did a restore (since I did a back-up before the failed root-yay me!)  and essentially got my phone back.  The memory problem has (temporarily I am sure..) gone away and though I lost the data in a program I used everyday, I am hoping that I can deal with it until I can get a new phone. I did find out that I can upgrade early, but will lose a credit if I do it before December...  Thanks for the replies, I really appreciate them, but this newbie will not try to root again.  I just didn't have good luck, and am turned off by the time that it took!    Undecided

Thanks again for the replies and I am still up for suggestions...

Don't give up on root completely. It allows you to put a newer version of the android operating system than the nexus s in stores has. Cheesy
It just didn't work the first time. Sometimes stuff doesn't. I just don't want you to give up before you at least try gsb. I cannot say enough about having gingerbread on my Eris.

Plus you weren't on sprint os...It just said that in the notification bar right?  That can easily be changed. Don't give up on root.  It makes your phone 1000 times better.

When you say No Comment, isn't that a comment?
