Hi!
I am new to the forum but have had the Droid Eris for about 2 months.  I am not really too techno savvy but I enjoy the Eris for phone use, email, texting, gps, and the internet.  Things were working perfectly until the last week or so and now I don't feel as confident with  the Eris is working.  First something happened with the sync and I got a message that it had a problem but would be back working soon.  That was a week ago.  Now with sync on auto my battery drains within a few hours.  Anyone have any ideas about what I could have done wrong?  I took the phone off auto and turned off sync.  Our local Verizon person checked the battery and it is fine.  I am recharging and plan to take it back to the store tomorrow.  I would really like to be able to fix it myself.  Also had an error message - SMS error, cause code 34, error class 2 - I think has to do with texting, but how does one find out?  Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

The more feature you have on the more the battery will drain. Are you getting these errors constantly or just once in a blue moon.

Got into your settings under accounts and sync and just sync what you need then while in the account you want to adjust, hit menu and change the sync settings to how many times a day it syncs.

For example I have it sync my facebook contacts once a day, I have my email programs set to once a day except for my main one which is every 3 hours.

To get to settings for each app or program, open the app or program and then hit the menu key, this should bring up the settings for that app or program...

Thank you jrocker - Your info was extremely helpful.  I went to the Verizon store and found out about the SMS error message, which was a one time event in a place with questionable service .  They told me some of what you said about using sync.  Apparently you know more than the Verizon folks.  Thanks so much - I have made the adjustments as you instructed.  I just do not understand why this was only a recent problem and did not occur the first month.  I guess I have more apps running.

No problem

The more apps the more data info it looks for such as updates and such. Also over time your battery will even out. My biggest piece of advise is make sure when you onstall apps, to make sure they do or dont have sync features. if they do, adjust them to what you feel you need.

Battery life with androids arent great yet especiall compared to a non smart phone. I can go about a day to day and a half with normal usage. My standby time is better though.

Use our search feature for battery , performance and so fourth and you will find plenty of helpful info..
