Hi Shellie, welcome and glad you like the site.
Ram will continue to get smaller as you install apps. Apps install to your phones internal memory, not the memory card.
The only thing I can suggest, is to go to:
Menu-settings-applications-manage applications, wait for the apps to load(about 2 minutes) then hit menu-sort by size.
Now press on each app and you will see a menu of the apps info with things such as uninstall, Data, clear cache, clear defaults and depending on the app some other settings.
Press on clear cache to clear out unwanted files that arent really needed. Don't worry you will not uninstall the app or any important info.
Also don't hit the data button and clear that, that will cause the app to lose any saved data and restore it to original info and you would have to put all info back in to that app.

I had someone with the internet issues. THe only thing we were able to do to fix it was a factory reset. This deletes everything off the phone that is not saved on the memory card.
Factory reset. menu-settings-privacy-factory reset...

Welcome aboard Shellie! It may well be that what you are seeing is the minimum amount of RAM that is necessary to operate the phone. The easiest way to determine this is to look at the running services (Menu>Applications>Running Services) if you have none of your downloaded apps running there then the amount of RAM you are seeing is going to be the maximum available. There is little you can do to make a permanent impact to that number.

shellie, when you go into settings>sd card and phone storage>internal phone storage, what number does your phone display? Currently I am at 51.99mb.

From what I've been reading lately, technically yes. But the methods are unreliable and the chances are good that you would not be happy with the results - AKA a bricked phone. My advice would be to wait for a more reliable method.
