How are you all.  Smiley I recently got an Eris from my brother for $50 that he got through insurance so it's brand new. I have seen the speed troubles inherent with this phone  Angry and so I rooted it. Now I just need suggestions on a fast, fully-featured ROM to flash onto it. Thanks in advance for any suggestions, and I really want a free one, since I got it through my brother because I am a waiter that just bought a PS3 so I'm kind of out of money. Grin

Yo! All roms should be free. If anyone tries to sell one then they have issues. A lot of people on this site are partial to my rom because many of us have hung out here together for a long time. I too am pretty partial to nonsensikal but there are a lot of nice roms, I always like to recommend trying at least a few before settling in. Try EVE by adam_hawk, he is the rising star around here.

Totally agree with sik. His roms are great and dont let anyone charge you... There are other very good roms out there and some work better with certain eris phones than others but testing a few should help you figure whats best for ya.

Thanks for all the responses. I tried KaosFroyo but it didn't work, just stayed on the splash screen. It wouldn't even turn off. So I left it on the charger and went to work, but apparently it was still draining the battery. So I went back to my restore point (thankfully I had one to go back to.) I'll try nonsensikal next. By the way, how do I remove Kaos completely? Just delete the .zip?

I'm trying to get nonsensikal but the site to download it from is down. Sad Cry
By the way, I have found a pattern within forums. Which is that when a forum is run by fans (a.k.a. not the official one) it tends to be more active, awesome, informative, etc.  Cool I love it. This is a great site. I just wish there were a few less ads. Cheesy Although the ones there are are really well targeted to the users here. (I bought the Zagg screen shield because I found the link here) Tongue

Try NonSenSikAl. It is a pretty solid and stable ROM, with good battery life and very responsive.

I am no longer so delighted. I went to do the theme defaults thing so I could read the notifications, but it made my phone unusable, so I restored an old NAND backup, unfortunately one from before I had flashed that ROM. Oh, well. I can get by. I am still rooted, I just still have the original ROM running.  Cry

Go to settings>cyanogenmod>user interface> Here you are given tons of options to change the colors in the notification bar.  I never use the theme defaults.  Then you reboot phone.
