Hello everyone!
I've been thinking about modding up my Eris lately and I've been scouring the internet for information about the process. I mean, I do like the phone as it is quite a bit, but the issue here is that A) I'm a techie, and B) I need to be in control of my toys and not vice versa.
The phone has been slowing down significantly lately and it's starting to drive me nuts. Not only that, but I have relatively few apps downloaded/installed and I'm always getting the "Low Storage Space" error! I HATE THAT! So these problems pushed me to the brink of sanity and led me to a few websites, this being one of them, with some questions about the whole process.
First and foremost, how practical is this? I know it voids my warranty (I have no issue with that) and can possibly brick my phone if done wrong, but what else does this entail? Can I still download apps, like normal, from Google's App Market (or am I forced to search the internet for special roms)? With this hack, can I install apps to the 8gb SD card I have and am barely using? Will this speed the phone up at all? Does it affect my service (txt messaging, phone calls, etc..)? If needed, is there a way to revert back to factory settings?
Also, I am currently at version 2.1. I'm mostly seeing v1.5 - v2.1 hacking guides anywhere I look, is there a way to hack from v2.1 - v2.1? I'd say v2.1 - v 2.2, but I don't know if the Droid Eris can handle v2.2. I'm not new to the modding scene - I've modded stuff before. I'm in school and I don't want to have to shell out another $200 for a cell phone if this guy bricks.
Thanks in advance for all the assistance!
