Hi everyone,
I'm from New York/New Jersey and I have owned the eris since it launched last year and have loved it. But we've had our problem moments which I'm sure you all shared as well. What I love most about this phone is its size and weight. It doesnt weight down my pants and I can hold it without feeling like I'm working out. With that in mind, my Google maps are utterly unreliable (can never "find my location") ,the YouTube app doesnt work and I hate the sluggishness at times. For example: how many of us have pressed the end call button... werent sure it was pressed and then pressed it again and the person gets re-called. I've pissed off my fiancee with that one a number of times...

I'm still on 1.5 and debating to upgrade to the 2.1 leak in fear that it wont qualify for the OTA update... as the local Verizon rep warned.

Anyway, thanks for all the support infomation I read before joining... and now I can officialy wander around this site. Renato

Welcome and understand your issues. Just to let you know that if you install the leak, you can still get the OTA update as long as it is a different version number than what the leak is.

I have a very good friend that works on the tech side of VZ Wireless and has worked on their fios as well. He knows all about the leak and issues with the eris. This last leak is as close to the final version as we will get now he told me that 99% of the time when they test their OTA updates they are given testing version numbers. Once they are approved the version number from the final approved test will change and be known as the release number.

For example (these are just random numbers used they do not represent actual verizon information) So if a release is in testing and it version 3.54 say and it gets approved as final release it will move to 3.54a or 3.55 when it is delivered. So as long as the phone sees a different release number it will update.

My verizon store has seen my phone with the leak and said its not an issue, a rep that I deal with all the time even asked me for the file and put it on his Eris. People have also stated they have returned their phone with the leak and had it replaced with no problems.

If you want to update, please read all info carefully and please use the original memory card or an exact version of it by a quality manufacturer. This will avoid updating problems.

Hope this helps
