I've put together a few dozen ringtones as follows -
- Copy the mp3 you want to use to your PC.
- Download and install Audacity (beta, free) onto your PC.
- Open the file in Audacity (you will need to take a few to familiarize yourself with Audacity but you really only need 3 or 4 functions)
- Trim the file down to what you want as a ringtone (not too long)
- Under "Effects" amplify to the suggested rate (this is important)
- Under "Effects" I usually Fade In the beginning and Fade Out the end but I'm persnickity about that stuff.
- "Save As" - an MP3 and transfer it to your Eris. If you don't know how to use the cable you can e-mail it to yourself or let me know and I can write another post on it.
- Open it in RingDroid and select/save it all, naming it what you like.
- Enjoy!
If you play with Audacity enough you will find that you can convert wav files etc. for notification files etc. The point is that with a little experimentation you can make anything into a ringtone with these two programs, even your own voice!
