Is there a way to copy or transfer text messages?  I, unfortunately, have to give up my Eris.  Before I erase, there a some text messages that I would like to save.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.  Oh, and if I put my phone on a scanner or copy machine will that work without damaging the phone? Dumb idea? Dunno!

O,O you must REALLY want those messages.

yes there are many apps that claim to export your texts to your SD card (memory card)

i say claim because many of them i have not tested.  MyBackupPro works for SMS but not MMS simultaneously  but it is also said to work only on the same device, any updates since i have used it may correct this.  but just searching the market for save sms or export sms im sur eyou'll find many apps, the only way to be sure is to try them out, and then check and see if they are on your card

When you say giv eup are you getting a different type of phone, a new eris, or are you just going to be without the phone and wont to get your messages off of the phone and yet save them?

My bosses phone took a "***"!  So I offered her mine.  She pays the bill anyway and needs it more than I do.  Gotta say though, I'm gonna miss my Eris.  Kind of regret offering it.  Didn't really expect her to accept.  Took a while to get used to it, but I kind of love it now.

Oh, and thanks, I'll look into those apps.  Hopefully can find a free one!

Sms backup by Michael valentine ( close to that name) is free and seems to work good but there are a few bad reviews, read them and I suggest a quick google/youtube review first as well

I use TxtractLite-MMS & SMS. It will convert your messages to an HTML file and you can email it to yourself. My only problem is that it really doesn't do a good job of catching the MMS texts, even tho the program claims it will. But it comes in handy for saving most of the thread. And it's FREE.
