Go to your Phones Settings, then go to Security, and make sure "Require Pattern" and "Use Visible Pattern" are NOT checked Smiley

Hey guys,
I'm not the swiftest here so bare with me. I too am trying to get rid of the password lock code to open my eris. I prefer to swipe down to open it and don't have a need for the added security.
I went to phone settings, security, but do not see "Require Pattern" and "Use Visible Pattern" line as options.
What am I doing wrong?
Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Scan this and get it!! lol

Its a widget that, with one tap, you can turn your pattern on or off

Thanks for the help guys.
By rebooting , do you mean a hard reboot? Won't that erase all my settings and contacts?

soft reboot is powering down phone and back up again.  Hard reboot is to pull the battery and booting back up(no you will not lose anything).  Factory reset is another issue I wont even go into.

Ok, I tried a soft reboot and a hard reboot and nothing changed. I tried the widget that Jpc recommended ( I downloaded it from the app store), set my "code" and nothing happened. I uninstalled it and got an error message stating that there was a problem with the widget.
I am at a loss here and don't know what else to do.
Please help me or I will be forced to kill myself.  Embarrassed

LOL
No need to kill yourself.  We'll get it figured out.
If you are now on Official 2.1:
Make sure you are going to Menu > Settings > Security;
"Require Pattern" means you have to trace the pattern you set with the circles.
"Use Visible Pattern" means that if you have a lock pattern set, it will highlight in green when tracing it.

You should probably have success if you un-check "Require Pattern".  This completely eliminates the requirement to trace a pattern in the circles to open the phone.
You will only need to swipe down, or tap 'Menu" to open the phone.

I hope this helps.

I really like the lock pattern, so I don't pocket dial people, or open random apps, because my Eris is tossing around in my pocket.  The lock pattern completely removes this occurrence.

I am on 2.1.
when i go to Menu > Settings > Security; iI do not get "Require Pattern" or "Use Visible Pattern".
I reinstalled on/off app and again it said there was a problem with the widget and didn't work. I uninstalled it again.
I must be doing something wrong or my phone is weird.

Help Me.

What options do you get when you go into settings for the lock screen? You dont see what is in the pic below?

If you have Set unlock patten available, make a new pattern and confirm then uncheck all 3 boxes under the Set unlock patten area

hey Jrocker23, how are you?

No. My security screen shows change unlock password, visible passwords, use secure credentials, install from sd card, set password, and clear storage.
The use secure credentials and clear storage are dark gray and don't let me open them.
