Since the update I can not get individual ringtones to work.  I have a default ringtone that used to play only for unknown calls and then individual ringtones for my contacts.  Now only the  default plays.  When I check my contact info they have the ringtone listed and it plays when i press it.  The only theing  can think of is that I have noticed that when my phone first rings the droid icon shows up briefly before my contacts image appears so I think it thinks its an unknown call and plays my default ringtone.  Anyone else?  Any suggestions?
 Thanks

I might try and go into your contacts and the ones you have individual ringtones for that do not work, select the ringtone, switch from the default you have and want to another one then switch back to the default one you want back.  See if this helps.  On v3 leak here and have had no problem with individual ringtones working.

I had the same thing happen to me after something I did. Ripley's fix worked for me as well.

Thanks for the tip, but it did not work.  I think i has to do with the delay in the phone recognizing the contact when they call.  I have tried changing to every ringtone and it still play the main default tone.  Before the update i neve noticed the delay in the contact being recognized.

Hate to hear it did not work.  What if you delete the ringtone you want to have and re-download it back and attach to the contact?

I had the same problem and found that my app killer was killing something that my phone needed for it to work. I did a soft reset by taking out my battery. Then it worked, then I narrowed it down to 3 apps , settings, htc checkin, people. I just excluded all 3 and now I don't have that problem. I hope this fixes the problem.

That was exactly it.  My task killer was shutting down the people app.  I excluded people app and pulled the battery.  Ringtones are back.  Thankls for the advice.  Pulling the battery seems to have also helped a bug with my sd card that would not allow me to save pictures fro handcent or delet files from astro.

There's a knot of (somewhat vocal  Grin) people here that who would advise you against using task killers (I'm one of them). This would be another argument to support their opinion.
