Hi and HELP!  Did the 2.1 OTA upgrade and the battery life isn't great.  I used to hover around 4% awake time on 1.5.  I now hover around 67% on cell standby.  Ouch!  I've tried doing the airplane trick.  No luck.  I do keep GPS off at all times unless I'm playing with the navigation in the car (Oh, how awesome is that!) but I've only done this twice, just to test it out actually.  I normally have the Wifi off and sometimes the Mobile off too.  If I'm not needing the internet, there's no need to keep these on all the time.  I do use a bluetooth and I'm not good about turning that link off but I never turned it off on 1.5 and I stayed around 4% awake time with it on.  My widgets are Astro, TV.com, Lukluk, My Verizon, Mablio Ringtones, RingTone and TV guide.  Not a ton, as far as I'm concerned.  I've done the *228 option 1 and 2.  I've done battery pulls and tried killing the battery and charging overnight with the phone off.  So, obviously I'm missing something.  I do have my screen turned down, have my timeout set for 30 seconds, can't think of anything else to report here.  Oh, I do also use Handcent and have since getting the phone.  Any help would be appreciated.  I've looked thru this site several times but anything I've tried isn't working.  I am using the Sedio 1750 which used to give me a good 2 days, sometimes 3, but now I'm charging every night.  Please help!  Thanks guys.

Sounds like you were living a charmed life living under 1.5 lol!

You've obviously read the forum carefully and tried all the recommended fixes.
Another battery killer is the HTC battery widget. If you've got it get rid of it. I've heard of people doing the Airplane trick more that once - you might try it a couple of times. Several people have reported high battery usage that stabilzes over a few days.

My 1750 has never perfomed like that  Cry! I charge up every night (down to 30-40%) but that has been the case for me using 1.5, 2.1 V2 and 2.1 V3 and my phone is set up very much like yours.

Thanks Monty1.  I don't have the battery widget, unless it's a stock thing.  I know I've not downloaded one.  I tried the airplane thing 3 times yesterday and twice today.  I just find this all very odd since my battery was awesome on 1.5 and has been pretty bad on 2.1.  I heard that it was supposed to be better on 2.1.  Puzzling!

I've seen quite a few posts on better battery performance but in my experience it was slight. I don't keep everything running full blast but I'm not over-conservative either (2 e-mail accounts with LOTS of email, Y5 running some kind of internet connection at all times, usually WIFI). I had pretty high expectations of the 1750 battery too but it wasn't spectacular. I can easily last a full day with pretty heavy use and if I nurse it I can squeak thru an second day (I've gotten down to 3% successfully).

I've just learned to live with it.

Personally I quit worrying about this awake time issue.  Some days I am at 53% and today I was at 3%, does not affect my battery performance in the least, no matter where it is.  What you might need to try is going into settings>applications>running services to see what is currently using the battery, as something may be stuck and sucking the life from your battery.  You can make a shortcut widget for running services on one of your home screens.

Ok, it says GTalkService; Touch Input; ObexService and Bluetooth OppService.  Those look like all that's running.  I know what the bluetooth is.  Have no idea what the others are.  Any ideas?

Gtalkservice has to go with google/gmail this is normal.  Touch input for keyboard, text, emails, typing, this is normal also.  Obexservice part of the htc processes of the phone, this is normal also. Your services look good so far.

I have obexservice, gtalkservice, mabilo wallpapers, swype(takes place of your touchinput), news and weather(new genie widget I installed, but noticed it does drain my battery faster).

You dont have that new battery widget on your home screen do you?

No battery widget.  Never did actually.  I always heard they drain the battery and so I never felt the need.  So everything I have is normal and nothing should be killing my battery?  Odd!

Out of this set of services two you could eliminate is Obex (Object Exchange) and Bluetooth. (Obex is a method by which files are transferred using Bluetooth). Turning off your Bluetooth should turned them both off.

In my experience Bluetooth uses a significant amount of battery. I suggest you turn it on only when you need it.

See Monty posted about Bluetooth and this may help you out.  I do not use a bluetooth so not sure if its supposed to be there or not if you are a bluetooth user, Monty would know better.  I just turned off Obex like he suggested and will see how that works, have read different opinions on this one so not sure( will start back up if you reboot your phone).

I still have the original battery that came with the phone, and have learned to let the phone just do what it wants only to find the battery does much better over time.

An interesting thing about OBEx service. Even though it is turned on when you turn on Bluetooth, OBEx transfer is not allowed in 2.1 (or 1.5 for that matter). Too bad because if it was you could buy a $5 bluetooth antenna for your computer and transfer files back and forth to your phone all day using OBEx.

Unless, of course, you root your phone..... Cheesy

I have an on/off widgets screen.  On it I have my bluetooth, Wifi, GPS and Mobile.  I do keep most turned off when I'm not really using my phone (such as when at work).  The bluetooth is normally left on because I turn the actualy bluetooth off when I'm not using it.  I guess I thought that was enough.  I guess I'll just hit the off widget when I'm not using it.  So why did this not affect my phone when I was on 1.5 but now drains the battery on 2.2? I never shut off my bluetooth widget when I was on 1.5 and I was at around 4% awake time.  Sometimes 2% and sometimes 6% but it normally hovered around 4%.  So why does 2.2 not like a bluetooth?
