Recently my phone has been telling me that there is low storage. I've removed all the unnecessary apps and even deleted my longer strings of texts messages, and the low storage icon is still there.

Also, my phone has had trouble getting updates for my installed apps. It finds the updates but just sits on "starting download" forever.

Anyone got any tips?

try going to menu/settings/applications/manage applications. Once the applications load, hit menu/sort by size and then open each application and try clearing the cache.

After you unistall or clear cache, its good to reboot your phone..

I assume you are on a stock phone and have not rooted your phone?

this happened to my wifes phone it was Pandora, it stored around 120 mb in its folder, probably all the  songs she had listened to over time, I unistalled it an re installed it, fine so far, just an FYI.something to check if you use it.cleaning the cache did nothing to it.

Pandora stores that info in data. You can clear data but that would clean out all settings and info for the app that you cleared the data on..

Interesting......

I listen to Pandora like crazy, especially since I paid for unlimited and have never had this occur.

Clean caches on a regular basis.

Thanks a lot Jrocker!

Phone is running smoothly now, though, now, I plan to manually install a bigger memory card soon.

Glad it worked.

Just to advise, a bigger memory card will not help in this case. All that info is saved on the phones memory. The only way around it is to root your phone(there is a ton of info on the site for this) or pray that the eris gets upgraded to 2.0 which would give you the option to move most apps to the sd card..
