I've been trying to set up my phone to receive my work email.  I'm using IMAP, and I can receive mail, but I can't send any.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you

i was able to set up my gmail to send and receive my email. now when it comes to yahoo you can not have your email sent to your phone unless you pay 19.99 a year and upgrade to their premium service  i sent them a detailed email about my problems trying to setup my yahoo email on my eris and that is what was stated when they answered..send yahoo a detailed email and they will explain it and how to subscribe..i think this stinks but will pay the money since 99.9 of my emails come to my yahoo account  hope this helps!!!

Hi Guys,
I've added yahoo to my droid with the following info:
Steps Settings
1) Edit Account: email ...........(next)
2) Incoming Settings:
Protocol: IMAP
Email Address: Yahoo email
Username: Yahoo email
Password: Yahoo password
IMAP server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Security Type: None
Server Port: 143...........(Next)
3)Outgoing Server Settings
Check login required
Username: email
Password: password (account)
SMTP Server: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
Security Type: None
Server Port: 25....(Next)
4) Edit Account
Account name: email address
your name: email address
(Make this my default mail account-I left unchecked)....Finish Setup

Not sure if this is what your asking for. If you need help, you can email me or post. You can change the settings on how often to check for emails.  I downloaded the yahoo yoodle to alert me when I get emails from my accounts Smiley

I'm still checking for business and student emails....hopefully those can be set up as well  at some point.

Oh, as far as I know there is no truth to the yahoo premium service (it's not required).
(This email thing was what kept me from enjoying the Eris the first few weeks and  missing my BB)

When I try to set up my yahoo acct on Eris, I get a message that says "authentication failed. please verify user name/password." The username is my yahoo email address (correct?) and then the password is my yahoo email password (correct?). Those are what I entered & I triple checked they were correct but it didnt work.

Ok, this time I did what LatinAngel suggested. I had to go in to manual set up & then in addition to putting the email address & password, I made sure to enter these:
IMAP server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Security Type: None

I sent a test email from my phone but it was rec'd as a text message to my yahoo account. So, still trying to figure that out. BUT, I can check my yahoo mail (& it is the free version) as well as my new gmail account,  on my phone.

Ok, it's been a while since I set up my yahoo account hopefully that works. It definitely was easier to set up a blackberry. I heard that for the port sometimes it automatically inputs that info in. It should work just like you gmail account and you should get notifications (if set) when you receive an email. You should also be able to add a mail icon on your screen like the GMAIL one for easy access. So far I have added MSN Hotmail, Yahoo, and Gmail. It's just a question of finding those settings which can be a pain.

Do you have a google email? I exported my yahoo to my google email/or imported yahoo from google - can't remember which one, on my laptop & now on my Eris I get both (the g.mail remains "unused" and I just use my yahoo). That's the only thing I can think of off the top of my head.

Followed the instructions, noticed that your outgoing port was different from the video. Also did not see any box for make this my default email. Where was that? My problem is I am not able to send any emails from this account. ANy assistance would be appreciated.
