NO, unless you are tech savy, do not attempt root!  You could brick(kill) your phone for good.  Some pre-installed apps that come with the phone cannot be removed, period.  What apps are you talking about?  Pls list the ones you mean.

Yes these apps cannot be deleted without rooting.  I am with you and would delete them also if I could, never use them. If the icon for these apps are on one of your seven screens, long press the icon, a green line will then surround the icon, simply drag down to the bottom where you will see remove, icon gone.

There not on one of the screens, its just when I hit the up arrow and go to all programs. They are in there. Just a pin you can remove the icons from there. Stinks

Oh I see, no you cannot remove them from all programs that I know of.  Hardly ever use this method for apps.

With seven home screens per theme and the ability to save innumerable personalized themes running up and down that list seems like a lot of work. Grin

What frustrates me is that these apps are always running, wasting the battery.  I use a task killer, but they always seem to start back up without me selecting them.  Is there a way to turn them off so that they do not run?  Thanks, Kevin.

Nope, not without rooting phone.  First off task killer is wasting the battery not the apps running in the background.  I stopped using task killer when I first upgraded to 2.1 v1 and my battery life improved, letting the phone just do its thing.  And yes there are those out there that swear by task killers, so not trying to start any debates.
