I've read tons of threads on this, but I have yet to find simple, but detailed instructions. Ideally, I'd like to find someone who has the time to walk me through this step by step as I have no idea what I'm doing. I've read that rooting will fix the "lags" that my phone has and that cause me to miss calls fairly regularly.

Thank you in advance  Smiley

That would be super. Do you have yahoo IM? Or could you post a step by step detailed instructions? Any and all help is appreciated more than you could know.

Well I wrote this tutorial: http://www.droid-eris.com/all-things-root/(tutorial)-how-to-root-your-leaked-droid-eris/

But it's a bit more complicated.

We can use the sites chat program here: http://www.droid-eris.com/chat/index.php

I really want to try to root my phone just because I'm so tired of the lag.  I've been reading all kinds of "how to root" threads but I'm not very tech savvy when it comes to something this high tech.  I'm always afraid of messing up the phone or "bricking" it and then I'm screwed.  I've seen the "1-click app" but then read about having to flash any of the many ROM's that are out there, but I don't know what that means or how to do it.  Also have read the camera doesn't work on some rom's, etc.  Are there any without issues or close to none?

I love this forum because of all the great help so I'm hoping someone can help myself as well as others in my predicament and explain a little more of the benefits of doing this.  Also if there is someone else who is not as tech savvy like myself that has done this with success and have figured out how to do these benefits that can share their experience, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks all

I've helped people through it. It's not hard, and the camer thing is mostly on froyo roms and is being fixed. EvilEris is a great stable Rom for beginners.

Ha, I was trying to avoid that for you, I'm glad you got it to work though.

I'v already tethered my phones internet to my laptop. That alone was well worth it. Cheesy

Did I void my warranty with this? Or, If I need to take it back for some reason, should I re-install the stock ROM?

If you send the phone in rooted yes it voids it. Just reinstall stock rom and you should be fine I would think. Correct me if I am wrong anyone.

Yep Indy is correct.  Go back to 2.1 if you need to take it in.

Where can I get the stock 2.1 if i need it? Or is it still on my cell?

The 1 thing I don't like about EvilEris is that I can't change my wall paper now. Is there a way to fix this?
