I don't know what's up with that because I have been able to add 2 Yahoo accounts, 1 Hotmail account (msn), and of course the google account. I just added my 2nd Yahoo account like five minutes ago and it was even easier than the last one. I just typed in my yahoo ID and password and it worked! I've posted How-To's in an earlier forum but for some reason it doesn't work for some people I guess. I'll post screen shots if that helps or make a youtube tutorial. It's possible I did it for mine and the free version not that lie pay for premium they tell you to buy.

Yes, please.
That would be great if you could post screen shots, or a video tutorial, whichever is easiest for you.
Thanks for the help.

I've done the following manual settings and it worked fine for a week but since then stopped. Not sure if yahoo blocks once it notices activity.

Turn Mail app On > Menu > More > New Account > Other (IMAP/POP) > then see below

Username: XXXX@yahoo.com
Password: yahoo password
IMAP Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 143
Security Type: None
IMAP Path Prefix: leave blank

SMTP: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 587
Security Type: None
Username: XXXX@yahoo.com
Password: yahoo email password

I had tried this many times without success, trying to follow the instructions posted earlier. Never successfull...The instructions were clear, but my phone just wouldn't cooperate. Just tried with  the wireless off. After quite a few attempts where I was told to verify my password and user name, and going round in circles, finally it worked! Now to hope it keeps working.
Thank you thank you!

cmerritt,
Are you saying the one thing that made the difference was probably the Wifi?
Keep it off while setting this up?

chewbacchi,
I think turning the wi-fi off was the only difference. It didn't go that smoothly, though, as I ended up inputting my username and password many times before I was able to do the outgoing settings. i had tried when I first got the phone and got that same authentication message. I didn't get that message this time at all, but the phone still seemed to have trouble accessing the server. Don't really understand why it worked this time, but I normally have the wi-fi on at home since I live in an area with relatively poor phone service.

Jrocker,
Mail setup worked like a charm, thanks for that video link.
Now, to test out the HTC Sync.  What do you sue this for mainly?

If you have never used HTC Sync, prepare for some possible headaches.  HTC sync is used to sync your phone with Outlook on your PC.  It only, as far as I know, syncs your calendar and contacts right now.  It does not sync emails, notes or other Outlook items.

When I first used it, my PC wouldn't recognize the device even after I used the sync function on the phone itself.  I ended up calling HTC tech support and they had me uninstall/reinstall the program and drivers and redo it all over again in a non-specific order.  So best of luck to you!  I am now using Google Calendar and Gmail to sync my contacts and calendar.  I just CSV'd all my outlook contacts to Google and it worked like a charm!
