This is on 2.1.  On blank area of screen long press, then a menu will pop up with various options.  You will see folder, tap it.  It opens to a new menu called add folder.  Hit new folder, which will then show up on one of your home screens.  Tap it open and it will be blank for now.  Long press the top where it states folder, then it will state rename folder and the keyboard will be there for you to type or swype in new name.  Not sure if this is what your looking for, hope it helps.

Move them to your pc and name them then move them back or you can download astro file manager and install it. Then open astro and look for your movie folder then long click on a movie, it will give you a menu, press edit, then scroll down to rename and rename it...

Now when you look in the folder, your movie will have a name...

Hope it helps

Thanks. Is it normal for the movies to be in the pictures folder? They were already on my sd card from my Storm 2. I noticed they are in the pictures folder (icon). Not sure if this is right? thanks

Yes they default there but you can make new folders and move them to it. Any time you take a pic or movie they default there.

Astro file manager is a good program to move, copy, past, rename and explore your memory card...

Ok still no luck showing the names of movies after doing that, they still show up as thumbnails with no names. They do however show the names of the movies under astro though. It stinks becausse the thumbnail view of the picture doesnt tell me which movie it is until I start to play it.

Im sorry, I havent used the stock photo gallery in so long. Yea I just used it now and there are no names showing. The only way to know is to do a long press on the video and a menu will pop up and the name will be at the top.

There may be other apps that support the feature you need though. I am not sure of any..

Is there another one that can accomplish this rather than the stock one?

You might try another photo management app but it seems to me that the problem runs deeper than the album app. It sounds to me like some your thumbnails files may be corrupted.

If so, the way to fix it is to clean up the thumbnails. The fastest and most simple way to do that is to back up all your data, preferable to your computer, and format your SD card.

Depending on the amount of data you have this might be no small undertaking. What I usually do is make a folder on the computer and copy the entire contents of the "removeable drive" into that folder and then double check the contents (this would be a good time to see if your mp4s thumbnails appear on the computer - they should).

If you want to pursue this path send me a private message and we can discuss it further if tou like. You should feel completely comfortable with the process before undertaking it.
