My son was using my phone and it reset and has been stuck on the screen with the 3 Skateboards. I can get to recovery and HBoot and fastboot but after i did a hard reset and wiped the Cache, my phone still does not boot up. I bought it used and have had no problems, this is the first. I don't know if it was rooted but i don't think so. I believe i am on 2.1 but not sure of which one etc.. 1, 2 or 3.  Any ideas on how i can get my phone going again.

While its stuck at the skaeboard screen, pull the battery out and wait about 2 minutes then put it back in and try to restart. give it about 5 minutes at the skate screen. If it doesnt restart. We will have to try something else.

Pulled the battery, waited between 5 and 10 minutes, put it back in and turned it on, the 3 skateboards screen appeared and stayed there, it has been about 15 minutes now.

Is there a way to adb into the device from any of the offline Modes: Recovery, HBoot etc....  From the research i have done, i have read this:

Android Partition, SPL etc.

Partitions:
Followings are a list of partitions on your android phone.

misc - misc partition -

recovery - Recovery Partition - This is where the original HTC recovery or Amon Ra's recovery or any other Recovery would go. Basically if you reboot into recovery it'll boot from here.

boot - This is your boot partition
system - This is where all your system information (ROM resides)
cache - cache (When you factory reset the phone, this area is wiped)
userdata - user data (like your login, your user settings etc) When you factory reset the phone, this area is wiped)

So it seems the the problem i am having is between the Recovery and or the Boot Partitions, one of the images appear to be corrupted so even though i cant boot, i am not Bricked because is can get into recovery and fastboot and hboot. I have tried restoring PB00100.zip but since there are three of them, i am not sure which one i had and the two i have downloaded and attempted to recover from both gave me the "Main Version is older" message. I have not and do not know how to check the Checksum values of the 2.1 Roms.  Just a little info for you.

Thanks for the PB00 but it did not restore my phone, it gave me the same " Main Version is Older " message only after "Checking PB00 " for a while the first time i attempted to HBoot the PB00 from my fat32 formatted SD.  Second attempt it immediatley gave me the same message = Main version is older, Update Fail.

Do you know of a method of ADB-ing into the Eris from Fastboot or Hboot. I can get the " Fastboot USB " to appear when i use my usb cable and connect my cpu to my phone; windows xp sp3 and do the send and power start simultaneously.

Lets' figure this out........

There is an app called AFV found in the market that will check the md5 sums that are on your sd card. It is free and doesn't require root.

Also, just so you know, your hboot says s-on, and that means you are not rooted. Be careful which image you try to update from hboot so you don't update a root  image (if you try that route anymore).

Ok I have done a little reading and discovered that those receiving that message were trying to update a root image. Idk if that is the case here, but I will try to find you the right one.

Lets try this since i am having issues with my phone not pasting the right link :  http://www.google.com/m/url?ei=Q71oTaCkKOLflQe_opP-Ag&q=http://droid-eris.com/eris-all-things-root/180597-eris-challenge-boot-loop-no-pb00img-zip-file.html&ved=0CBYQFjAA&usg=AFQjCNHAz8qax3ngH0TzyZYKWr9zILPHQw

This person had the same problem, and he solved it by rooting. By rooting his eris he was able to override the damaged software and make his phone functional again.

I am not suggesting that you should root, just trying to put more options on the table... maybe use root as a worse case scenario. I am just worried that more damage may occur if you keep messing with it.

ETA: this is not the correct link. I will put the right one up when I get on my pc

I will Root if thats what it takes to gut my phone going again; at this point i have a Brick so i feel like i can't loose anymore than i already have. I would rather root so i can do a Nandroid Backup and have the option to restore from my SD Card. I am open to all suggestions at this point.

The phone isn't bricked unless it won't power on. If you can see lights or feel vibration, we can get it going. I don't frequent this forum much anymore because I got an Incredible, but you can add me on Facebook, and I can be of more help there, or you can stay here and get help from the other guys here. They are all great!
