I found this answer today. Go to the the market and download an app called History Eraser. It worked on my Droid 2.1.

Just went to market and says there are no matches.  This is market for 2.1.

Try looking it up as one word HistoryEraser. It's there, I just checked. I'm running Drois w/ 2.1

there is  a way uninstall market with astro and then click on the market icon in the program launcher you'll go through the set up process and it will clear your history

I am sure it was user error on my part...duh...I did find it and posted it  under Android applications for others to find.  Thanks for sharing the info!!
