Hi,

I have been trying to access my SD card for about 1 1/2 hours. I have read about pulling down notifications screen but I can't find that either. If I go to SD card using settings, I don' t have access to mounting the card. I sent myself a text message from Verizon in hopes the Notification screen would be visible.  I've also tried turning the phone off, back on the reinserting the SD card. Needless to say this is very frustrating. help. Thanks

Lets see if I can help:

The notification screen is the bar at the top where the signal, battery & time is displayed as well as message notifications and such. It is also called a Shade. Put your finger on it and drag towards the bottom.

Now as for mounting your phone, Im assuming your running version 1.5 (this is the version of the phones operating system) this is the version the phone came out of the box with. Connect phone via usb cable to your pc, You should be able to go to your phone and hit Menu-settings and have an option (forgot the actual area here since i moved to 2.1)to mount your phone or sync your phone. If you mount it, your pc should see it as a removable device in the pc's my computer section.

Click on removable device and it should show your memory card.

If I may also add 2 cents you should unmount it the same way you mounted it and be sure to properly eject it from the PC (as you would any other USB device). Protects the SD card . Wink

I really would like to figure out why you couldnt mount it. If you dont mind me asking some questions.

1) did you ever upgrade the software on the phone after you purchased it?
The phone runs on version 1.5 still but people have unofficially upgraded to the 2.1 software?

2) if you are using the original version, when you connect the phone to the pc with the supplied usb cable, does the pc recognize the phone?

3) if it does recognize it, did you go into the phones settings by pressing Menu / Settings / Mount Memory card?

4) once you do this, you should be able to explore the phones memory card through your pc.

5) are you using the memory card that came with the phone or a different one?

Jrocker23,

        To answer your questions:

1. No still the original Operating system 1.5

2. Not always, sometimes I have to plug and unplug the USB cable or turn off phone and resart (soft reboot)

3. I went into the Settings and the only options available we unmount SD card or Format

4. Since I was never able to "mount" SD card through the Phone, I did not have access to the contents, until I put card in SD reader.

5. Memory card that came with phone. However, when I bought the SD reader I upgraded to a 16 GB card

I thought that the card was already mounted so when you go to settings>sd card and it states unmount sd card for safe removal, so no mounting was necessary?

I use OI file manager and can always access my sd card instantly.

Sounds like a driver issue with the pc. It may not have installed the drivers properly.

I would love to get this worked out for you so you can avoid the memory card reader and go direct but in the meantime at least you can read the card...

If anything else comes to mind I will advise.

Im on 2.1 now so its a little different than 1.5 but I remember when plugging the phone into the PC that there was an option to pick sync or mount card.

As for ripley,

the unmount in the settings is supposed to be for you to unmount from the phone for safe removal.

Jrocker23,

Is there some where I can download the driver? When I attach ERIS to computer it often says it is an unknown device. Going through Device Manager (XP) it shows there is no Driver installed. Thanks

XP is not locating it for you and installing I guess. Did you go to HTC website?
