TO Jrocker23,ripley, or all PROS out there

kinda new in eris, i have ver. 2.1 rooted (superuser, ninja icon) and flashed to metro.

**** i've been reading a lot of evil eris ver 3 or 4, eris ver 2.2froyo etc.
-what is the best version? whats the difference?
- will it eat more memory?
- will it avoid "freezing" ?kinda experience it sometimes that i need to restart phone.
- pros and cons

**** if i upgrade the rom/OS version to latest version
-do i need to root my phone again?
-will my metropcs settings (mms, internet, config) be wipped out?
-any better suggestions/recommendation?-or best solution

*****
sorry if this has been asked. i wana hear it personally from you guys since you are active in the room and posted a lot (thanks for the hard work too).

-Evil Eris, if I'm not mistaken, is primarily, if not 100% a 2.1 ROM.
-Upgrading to 2.2 will actually free up memory by having a native auto Apps2SD it will keep your internal memory at a nice size.
-It could fix your 'freezing' depending on what is actually causing it.
-Pros: to 2.2 are native apps2SD, some 2.2 optimized apps, usually much snappier.
-Cons: No Sense (If you like Sense). That's about all I can think of.

-Once you root, you will stay rooted unless you explicitly unroot via one of the unrooting methods.
-Your app settings will be lost unless the apps support a back up of settings like ADW.Launcher does.
-My recommendation is to look into and research 2.2 ROMs. Most here would recommend either NonSenSIKal or EVE.

If you do want to keep sense, there is evil eris 5 now. Built and fixed by a new dev it can be downloaded here ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893802.

As stated above, 2.1 roms dont move apps to the sd card without having and apps to sd program installed and having the memory card formatted. 2.2 is better in my opinion and with a little searching and apps, you can get a kind of sebse look and feel...

to all,

is it true that froyo  2.2 v39 has minor bugs like on camera, wifi ?? esp it consume more battery than 2.1?

hmmm "sense" is what i call key feature of htc eris
- like when phone rings just tilt it, it turns volume low
- when it rings and it is in your bag it sense it and turns it louder
-updates weather location wherever you go
so all this is not availabnle on 2.2?Huh? but is there an app for it?

Most roms have the ringer thing built in twhen you turn the phone face down the ringer goes off and the weather update is available on a ton of weather apps. You can get most if not all of the sense like features with various apps available... Battery can be better with 2.2 because the roms manage it better and most roms have fine working cameras that do as well as the 2.1 version

No Sense is not a feature that senses things around it. Sense is HTC's skin of android. It is what It looks like when it's stock; like this:

Not a HUGE fan of Sense, but of all the skins it is definitely the best!

I do like the specs of the thunderbolt, especially the 4.3 screen.  I read that amazon has it listed on its site already.
