Has anyone had any troubles with the alarm clock that comes with the eris? Twice now the alarm failed to go off at the set time and I was late to work. I've never had this trouble with any cell phone alarm. Perhaps someone knows of a reliable alarm app? I checked and double checked the volume and made sure it was set up high. And I know I'm not sleeping through it because I'm a light sleeper and it has only failed twice. Still a fan of the phone though

Oh yea I've had this problem. When you say volume do you mean you have checked the alarm volume as opposed to just the ringer volume? For some crazy reason the alarm has its own volume?!?!? I have tested a few alarm apps and havn't really come across a good one yet. My plan is to just be late for everything every day and hope that the update has a better alarm.

LOL....yeah. I checked the alarm volume and the ringer volume and had both set as high as they could go. No dice. I've got to get a better more reliable alarm. One would think that as exceptional as this phone is, it would have a decent alarm. Lesser phones have alarms that work. I'm surprised that another app has not come out to replace the built in alarm. We cannot be the only ones with this problem.
Being late is not an option for me.

lol its not an option for me either. I have always had problems with alarms as the winmo alarmed failed me as well. I figure an alarm would be my first dev project when I get around to learning what I need to know.

Hey Sabs, sorry to hear about the alarm. Yes I have used the alarm on the phone and the only problem I have experienced is that the alarm goes off as I had set it for and it wakes me up! Snooze works also.

LOL.....You lucky devil. : Well, the way I look at it, as I read the troubles other people have experienced, mine is not too horrific. All I ask for is a decent alarm app that I can substitute. Is that too much to ask?

I agree with you! Hey have you tried an experiment, say during the day to see if it works?

So this thread has inspired me once again to go down the alarm testing road. Here are some apps that I have heard a few good things about...Klaxon, Alarming, and Alarmed.
I have used Klaxon on winmo and it was reliable but had a complicated UI, I'll have to see what it looks like for android. The other 2 were recommended to me so I will test those as well. I'll try them all out over the next few days and report back. If you guys try any of them let me know the results. My results maybe a few days away as I am generally away from the forum thursday-sunday.

Yup...tried to reset so it goes off during the day and lo and behold, it always does.
Thanks for trying the other alarm apps. Maybe I'll download too and report back on the findings.

I tried alarmed and it is real good...I just tried the lite version but I personally think it is worth buying. It gets nice and loud like an alarm should be

Are you using ATK as a battery saver? It is shutting apps down after a certain time of inactivity? My alarm works flawlessly but I do not have ATK. I also make sure to exit the alarm and go to the home page after I set it.

my alarm hates me. lol. so pretty much on my eris, i leave the droid alarm app open and dont kill it. it usually works. but my eris is pretty testy, and likes to do what it wants. i suggest setting another alarm until you can find a cure.

I have had the same intermittent luck with the standard clock alarm. I noticed that my alarm was constantly set and most of the time it did not work. So I tried to reset the alarm (by un-checking and re-checking it). Doing this extra step has made it work every morning this past week.

Interesting. I will have to test this out. I have otherwise given up on the alarm as even the 3rd party alarms all failed.

Yes...I too have found that if I reset it instead of relying on it repeating every M-F, it works well. If I have to, I'll continue doing this. Of course ever since I posted this problem, my alarm has worked flawlessly. It's similar to when I bring my car into the mechanics and tell them that it makes a boom chuckalucka boom chucklalucka sound everytime I accelerate...it never does it when they test drive the car. SIGH..... Thanks for all the feedback though on my problem
