The vlingo app has a setting to keep in slep mode, then just say vlingo and it waks up then you can say something like Text message joe and a window pops up and then you speak your message.

Vlingo can do a ton of things, just have to go thru the app and read the different areas. if you use the vlingo control panel widget, it will put all its most used shortcuts in a small one line widget on any home screen you want..
