Ooh, excellent. I saw him remove it and thought that. My bad. I will give it some testing when I get home this eve. For clarity, what os are you testing on and phone version? I can test on fedora and ubuntu linux as well as windows 7 home on my leak v3

Nevermind, after some quick goggle fu I found what it is. So just to clarify, you were on v3 of the leak, then flashed the ruu? Just want to make sure I fully understand you

The op got it to root but it seems like it's very touchy, and people are having issues replicating it. I'm not able to try till sometime tonight but it appears that this method could be viable, we just need to pin down the quirks. I'm wondering if this is an sd card thing again, with mounting times.

If anyone is trying this and no luck, I think it may help to have two command lines open, speed is key with this method from what I've gleaned from the chatter

Yeah have been reading and see people are not able to replicate the root so far.  Arghh why did HTC build the Eris at Fort Knox.

I am comfortable saying that at this point the "race" root is a failure. I continue my hunt for an exploit or method that will root our phone. I can only post developments as developments arise but rest assure I am still working on it. Join the fight, strength in numbers  Shocked

I'm inclined to agree. While if you are quick enough you might get your wish and root the phone but on my "daily user" the risk of bricking it using this method is too great. I'd rather wait for a more reliable method thanks.
