I cannot get on my laptop, bad crashing issues, I didn't read it all, but it looks promising, all htc 2.1 devices, includes the Eris?

Could someone look more into it for me? Smiley

I am not sure...under htc aria forum and says works with all htc 2.1 phones.  Is that 2.1 leak or 2.1 OTA?

Im almost positive that if it worked for eris we would have known from the devs and others already.

We could just ask the devs at that forum.

This method is being discussed in detail by the devs and I am personally running through some tests right now. I am skeptical but hopeful. More to come...

Apparently tapa had some issues with my xda account and I missed a ton. Looks like a decent shot though

I have tried every angle with this method that supposedly works on **all** android devices and I have nothing so far. I will keep trying and I'm following the work of others so any development will defo be posted here. As I said before, I am skeptical because many very smart people worked on this root for a vary long time...

Eris=fort knox!!

Eris=the ONLY unrooted android device to date!!

(of course there is the root leak that many used but as far as I'm concerned the Eris has not been rooted until root access is gained for all)

So far it looks like we have 1 eris rooted via this method. Lets hope it can be repeated.

That is awesome, is it stable? No 'adverse side affects'?

Yea it is fine. This method simply allowed flashing of the root ROM that everyone else has been using. It has yet to be replicated. As you can see, I am up late working on it (4:15 am here)  Grin

If you mean the guy on today's latest page of the "official" root thread on xda, it looks like he's recanting or something because he changed his post. But I looked at his screen shot, and it looks like he had 2 CMP open, possibly following the advice of one of the posters before him of using that to watch for the loop and have adb going.

It's a shame this thing can't get root. It's only a matter of time I'm hoping, but I've got a feeling big red was a little pushy with HTC about the boot loader and having to fend off hordes of hackers -.-

He didn't recant, he just moved his info to a dedicated thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=709450

The guy working along side him is me so I know its legit but I have yet to replicate it. He did successfully flash the root ROM to a device that was running RUU and then flashed recovery and a custom ROM. For now I am done working on this but it is a development that we really needed to get the community rolling again and I am hopeful that this will result in root for all Eris owners.

If anyone is up for testing a link to the instructions are are in the op of this thread. Check out XDA and Androidforums to see what we have tried already and keep your fingers crossed.

BTW...lets drop JPC some karma for posting this for us. Thanks +1
