The Apps I've found for my phone so far are for the most part incredible. Here's and alphabetical list of some of my favorties. (all are free apps from the marketplace)

Abduction - Game - A simple game the uses the accelerometer to move a cow from platform to platform across the screen. There's a paid version but the fere one is full enough and great for killing a few minutes.

Advanced Task Killer - A must if you want to save you battery. Shows you what's running and allows you to quit.

Barcode Scanner - Haven't fully used this yet, but one feature that makes it must have is the sharing. It will generate a QR for a contact, bookmark, a previously scanned barcode, which someone else with a scanner can then read.

Good Food - One of two "Food" apps I use. Starts you in Google maps around your location with a number of locations pinned on the map which you can side scroll through or touch select. You can also filter by price and the different categories of cuisine. When you select you can read reviews from other users, but the results are somewhat limited for now.

Hire a Droid - A job search app which includes it's own Android widget. Seems very thorough checking a number of different job list sites.

Jewels - Game - Swap between icons on a grid to match like icons in horizontal or vertical rows of three or more. Good time waster but icons are small and can be hard to hit right.

Movies - An extremely full featured "Movie Showtimes" app. You can tab between several options. "Box Office" Shows a descending list based on box office gross. You can select a movie from there and play the trailer, get showtimes, read info including rating, run time and a synopsis, then scrool down further for user reviews, critic reviews, than even further to find links to Flixster, Rotten Tomatos, and imdb. When you click the theater tab it finds theaters near you or at another zipcode, then you can read the movies playing there, see the show times, get directions, and call fandango. You can also get similar info on upcoming movies, and DVDs, plus you can rate movies, review them, and mark the ones you want to see if you have a Flixter account. By far one of the most polished apps I've found so far.

My Coupons - Looks up coupons from stores in your area, as well as some online offers, haven't seen what the full version is like yet, but at 99 cents it's a very cheap investment. Some very good deals you might not have known about otherwise.

Pandora - An App from an internet based "smart" radio station. You sign up, which is quick, pick a song or artist and it creates a "station" for you based on that, then streams the music for free. Usually hits the nail on the head when making choice. Includes a nice widget so you don't have to load the full app give the song a thumbs up or down or skip to the next one. A must have for music lovers.

Pkt Auctions eBay - A very light eBay app. Allows you to search, and enter your eBay and bid. "Never miss a bid again."

Shazam - Don't know what that song you hear playing is? SHAZAM! Load Shazam and let it listen to the song. If it's not some amazingly obscure indie band chances are it can identify it for you. Seems to pick up very well from the mic so you don't have to hold it right to a speaker. Tried it out on an in-store speaker radio and it worked just great. Seems to work ok with other background noise, and voice overs if the song your trying to identify happens to be in a commercial or trailer.

Yelp - The other "Food" App I use, but there is FAR more than just food, it's more of a business app. From restuarants, to drugstores, to banks, bars, nightlife, shopping, churches, schools etc and it goes on. See reviews, quick links to call. Uses a list view as well as a map view, in fact it's so full featured and polished I might just go delete the "Good Food" app right now.

Hope you guys find some of these useful, I know I have.

Please share your favorite android applications so that we may all enjoy them without the rigors of testing for ourselves Grin 20,000 is way too many apps to test! Tell us what you like about the apps, any downfalls such as memory hog etc, maybe even some screen shots would be cool.

I am still an android noob but so far I enjoy...

-Advanced Task Manager because I love the kill widget
-Amazon (mostly for college text books)
-Bubble because its cool
-Colordict, an on-board (stored to SD) dictionary and thesaurus with tons of add on stuff
-Compass because its cool
-NewsPro, news what more can I say
-Pandora, streaming radio with some cool customization options
-Quick Calendar, I just really like the widget because it tells me what is happening today
-Shazam because I can't even remember the names of my favorite artists
-Shopsavvy, scan a barcode to comparison shop
-Skyscape, drug information app for health care professionals
-WeatherBug, it is comprehensive and better than the others I have tried

I also have a few games but nothing worth talking about really.

Take a moment to share your faves, for my personal benefit  Grin

...oops, I searched, I swear I did and I didn't find a favorite apps thread Undecided. However, I just found "the app list" which is similar Shocked If a mod wants to move or delete please do.

Audio Manager is very cool.  It separates all of the different facets of audio within the phone and produces them in the interface for your control.

IMusic - get free streaming MP3s that you can also download (after agreeing to a disclaimer that makes you aware d/l of free MP3s could land you in jail and paying fines the rest of your life)

IVideo - same as above but streams music vids

Fandango - the name says it all

I am a fan of the "News" utilities.  BBC, CBS etc...  I like to know whats going on in the world.  OOOOOO, look!  Shocked Snookie just got wrapped in the mouth!!! Current Events rule!!!!

I have to start by saying in my opinion, everyone should be using
*Advanced Task Killer.  Love love love it!  Besides that, my fave apps are
*Pandora, can't get in the car with out it because I dunno about where everyone else lives, but here in Maine, radio vacuums!
*Skyscape is amazing for anyone in the medical profession.  I am a nursing student, and I am just in awe everytime I need to look up anything!
*LineUp, is a game where you have to bust the blocks before they flood the screen, sounds the same ol' same ol', but I am addicted to this one, its by LabPixies who also make *Floodit which is another great puzzle game in which you have to take a cube of all different colors and make it one color in a certain amount of taps. You must try it.
Nothing too exciting, but I think you all might enjoy those games!  Give 'em a whirl!

Are you using the full version? I am a nurse and I have the free version but I am reluctant to pay for what is a really limited app. The drug information falls short every time I use it.

Yea it gets the job done. I am getting ready to test lexicomp. I have used it on windows mobile in the pat and it was not very user friendly. I am hoping that the android version is a little better. This is a $285 software package but many hospitals offer a free download (thats how I got it). I'll let you know if its any good in case you are interested.

Yea I used epocrates way back in my Treo days (a long time ago). So far Lexicomp is great. Has everything I would ever need in a clinical setting except for an extra pair of hands to do compressions for me Grin I work in critical care so I ofter times need very detailed information about the drugs I use so I have been on a quest to find something good for my Eris. Lexicomp has won for now, although I do want to see if Micromedix is available for android.

Why yes, yes it is. Actually it could be called Options Task Killer because really all that it has that the other doesn't is options. However, Advanced sounds cooler. But a little more serious...ATK has a tabbed UI with options to control running apps, all apps, and services. There is an uninstall tab from which can uninstall apps in a little more convenient fashion than through settings and there is a system tab to monitor memory.  The biggest difference is the one touch widget, kills apps with one touch of a widget  Tongue
