I had my doubts about it. But with a little practice i think I've got it. It is so much easier than tapping each letter.  Sorry if someone else has posted about this app. I thought it is definitely worth suggesting.  Cheesy

Never heard of this app.  Looks like a Swype clone, well not sure who was on first.  From the reviews I see several mention its avaiable for a trial period only then payment is required, do you know anything about this?  I have no problem paying but developer states nothing in description about this.

Definitely worth mentioning - thanks! There are a lot of Swype fans here but alternatives are always welcome. It looks ike the only major feature that is missing vs Swype is themes, which is not a strong point on Swype IMHO.

Yep glad the OP mentioned this app.  I have been paranoid ever since the swype trial period ended and am  wondering if the new swype will also expire.  I do not want to type again!  I am going to email the developer for shapewriter to see if it does have a trial period/purchase, which I would be happy to do to keep me from having another panic attack.

Hey all this is the email I received from shapewriter:

Please note: We will officially launch a paid version of ShapeWriter
at a later date. Until then you can always go to Android Market and
upgrade to a newer free (trial) version if your current version
expires.

Note also that Android apps are SDK version dependent. If you don't
find ShapeWriter from your Android phone, it is either because your
version of Android is not supported yet or because of  temporary
glitches of Android Market. We try to make ShapeWriter to work on all
versions of Android as soon as we can.

If your question is not answered below, one of our staff will reply as
soon as possible. You may also visit our web forums at
http://www.shapewriter.com/forum for more information and technical
assistance.

1. How do I activate ShapeWriter after install?

Follow the usual steps of selecting an input method on Android:
- First, go to MENU -> SETTINGS -> LOCALE & TEXT, and put a check mark
next to ShapeWriter keyboard.
- Second, open an application where you want to type, then place your
finger in the text area and hold for a moment.
- A popup menu will allow you to "Select Input Method", select ShapeWriter.

- If you download a non-English language support package, you need to
select it from setting also.

2. How can I become a beta tester of future versions?

We only recruit a limited number of dedicated beta tasters,
particularly for new models of devices. If you are really interested
in providing feedback to improve ShapeWriter, particularly in
non-English languages, write to android@shapewriter.com.

3. How do I use this application?

See this short video
ShapeWriter Tutorial 2009 Android

4, How to capitalize a word?
Press on the case (the key with a chasing arrow icon) key AFTER you
enter a word.

5.  Where is the underscore key?

Press @ key and slide the suggestion bar.

Thank you for contacting ShapeWriter Inc.
