Here is the Genie widget from the Nexus One. Works great on the Eris and has some nice features, check it out.
To install: Scan the qr code or download the attached file.
If downloading from your phone: when download is complete click on the Genie file on your screen and the install process will begin. To use this widget go to add widget>android widgets>news and weather. You can choose to display news, weather, or both and then you can customize from within the widget.
Its the same if you download from a computer except you will need to transfer the .apk to your sd card and then access it with a file manager, as always I recommend androzip file manager.
