I will be getting my Droid Eris next week and was just wondering if anyone knew if the Eris has multiple screens that you can switch between and customize. I know the MyTouch does, and the Eris is very similar. I was just curious if anyone happens to know?

In fact, the Eris has 7 customizable home screens. Have you gone into a Verizon retail store to check it out, yet?

Verizon has a video demo of the Eris here: http://phandroid.com/2009/11/05/verizon-gives-htc-droid-eris-a-video-demo/

Although it is a bit confusing...Cesar discusses something called 'scenes' (described as play, work and social mode) and eludes to 7 customizable screens in each 'scene'....can someone clarify this?

Yes. With the Sense UI of HTC there are different 'moods.' For example, you can have a work mood, school mood, weekend mood, etc. Within each mood you can customize things however you want. The settings save to that mood for later use. Hope you understand.

I'm sure you may already know this but Verizon also has 2 demo sites of the Droid Eris, you can play with the phone and some of it's features using flash, it's kinda cool. Check it out if your interested:

The Droid Eris Emulator:

The Droid Eris Simulator:

Haha, yeah.

Well I got my hair cut today and then went to check out the Droid Eris. Very impressive, I enjoyed it very much, too bad I couldn't play with it some more, the Verizon rep was tired of waiting on me I think...hehe

That was my first time in a Verizon store but I didn't know that they didn't actually have phone's on display, they were just plastic dummies. I had to request to see a Droid Eris and the rep had to go open a new one and I had to wait for it to boot up and go through the activation process before I could even play with it. Well enough complaining, I have to say that it was AWESOME and I will be getting mine this weekend, it's just sad to hear about that 5GB maximum they have on the unlimited plan.

I think that's what she's talking about.  The Verizon plan description calls it the 'unlimited' data plan, although when reading the fine print you come to find it is unlimited up to 5Gig, then extra $ after that.
Strange they can still call it 'unlimited'.

What I mean is the data plan for $29.99 a month which is called Email and Web for Smartphones includes Unlimited email and web, but it's not unlimited. It has a 5GB a month cap, and once you reach that cap it will cost you $.05 cents per megabyte after that.

$45 a month for a data plan is just insane, I pay half that for my DSL internet at home.

i spoke to two different VZW reps on the phone last night...i called, asked and called back an hour later and asked again just to be safe...they SWEAR there is no cap and its unlimited...i read the fine print online as well in the contract...hell, i read every word of that contract three times last night and I dont see the 5GB cap and $.05 overage...where is this documented?  can you provide a link or a copy?

Well, LD, I appreciate your diligence.  If you have done all that reading, and talking with the VZW reps, (which I have not) then I rescind my comments. It sounds like the 5GB cap is a farce.
I've only read a couple articles that eluded to that point, but it appears that is not the truth.
So now I can be confident the $30 a month data plan is truly unlimited!
Thanks!
