Anyone have the problem of the weather widget causing a force close. If i tap it from the home screen it causes the phone to shut down.  Happens on both the manually installed version (my eris installed 5-14) and the OTA (my wife's eris installed 5-16).

Try a battery pull while the phone is on, if not, you may have to do a factory reset(available in the settings under private).

PLEASE be advised this will wipe all your info except for the 2.1 update. You have to backup whatever you dont want to lose, sync your contacts with google too...

Got the OTA update last week. Ever since then I have had the same problem. Don't feel like doing a reset on everything so just downloaded palmary weather app. The widget still updates regularly on the clock but will force close when you push on it.

I have just installed 2.1 OTA about 20 minutes ago, checked the weather app, and it worked like it always has.  I was expecting a force close of the phone but it worked just fine.

Maybe try a reset, *228, power down and up a couple times.  I can't think of what the issue could be with the phone.

Obviously it has something to do with a program file not being read properly, or corrupt.
A few reboots might fix it.

Never had any issue with weather app force closing.  I also use weather bug which I like much better.

Yes, I had the same issue.  Just go to Manage Applications/weather/clear cache

Worked for me!  Now I just can't "add a city"....for weather.  Anyone know how to fix that?

When you say weather widget causes force close do you mean the phone shuts down or the weather program does?

My phone has worked fine and then I got the new update.  At first I was excited because the new animation on my home page with the weather was neat.  When it rained it woud show raining and a windshield wiper, etc.  For the last few days half the time I look at my home page and weather isn't even there.   If I go to weather I can get it back but it keeps disappearing.

clear data then reboot
check settings>accounts & sync>make sure weather is under manage accts, have background data and auto sync checked.
wifi or 3g is on?

are you using any sort of task killer?

Last night I got into Settings/accts and sync/weather and I found that sync weather data wasn't selected.  I am not sure why it wasn't but I selected it.  So far so good.  My weather hasn't disappeared again since I turned it on this morning.
