I have been having a warranty issue with my phone, and have been holding out on replacing it because I thought that waiting for a better phone might be a good option.  So I was checking around and there are in fact a few cases of people getting their Eris replaced with DX, D2, and even the Incredible, however these were cases where people had already had several replacements sent. So I fugured I'd try to call and see what I could get in lieu of an Eris replacement, and they said that they'd send me the original droid... I'm trying to decide... Either keep my Eris for a while longer and deal with the trackball, and screen flipping issues hoping that they will send me a superphone, or just take the DROID...  Any thoughts?

Hmmm, If it were my Eris I would opt for a replacement Eris if available.  Have played around with the Droid and absolutely hate it.  I have no use for a physical keyboard, thats why I have a touchscreen phone.  Plus the thing feels like a brick.  Now that my phone is rooted, it is faster than the original droid.

Not sure when your upgrade date is coming available, as new phones keep coming out which will make the X and DR2 outdated, if you looking for the latest, greatest.

Same here. The big draw with the Eris for me was the size and the touchscreen. I could probably "live" with and Incredible or an X (although they are really HUGE) but a Droid or Droid 2 - no way. HATE that keyboard.

And whatever it was - it would have to be ROOTED of course........ Grin

Well after going through some shenanigans with customer service, and about 5 different calls, I finally received my Droid X. I loved the Eris, until the trackball and software issues... And I'm sad to see it go, but I'm VERY excited about getting the X.  The main reason is having a phone that I no longer have to keep plugged in to use with any frequency... But yeah, the wireless tethering, HDMI out, 8 MP camera, live wallpapers, no lagging just to make a call are also plusses. I for one like the large size, just have to be careful with it in my pocket... I'd hate to break it by sitting down in jeans.  So, so long Eris lovers, it's been fun!  Kiss
